I wish I had purchased something like this years ago. One very effective way to monitor your cat's health is to weigh your cat at least monthly. Our senior Siamese lost a lot of weight. Required expensive vet bill and lab work which helped but was somewhat inconclusive. He just did not want to eat so now can monitor his weight. Same with an overweight pet. I gave it 4 stars mostly because there are so many weight options sometimes one needs a quick default to pounds/ounces rather than grams. Large enough and the cloth cover is not so sterile. The cats are getting used to it now that they realize it is not going to harm them.

I really like this scale, I bought another brand that was plastic and sloped, the cats slid all over the place. Most of the cats and the 2 kittens were much more comfortable with this scale. The surface isn't slippery and it's flat not curved down. I have a cat rescue so it's important to get a weight for worming, etc. After a few tries all but one cat was still moving and wouldn't stay still long enough to get an accurate weight. I used treats the first few times to get them to stay on the scale. I now have a couple that get on the scale because the associate it with treats.

My cat has a chronic illness and tends to be underweight. I use this to keep up with his weight to keep him healthy. The large platform makes it fairly easy to keep him on it for long enough for me to get a good reading.
