Not as durable as advertised
Christopher C.✓ Verified Purchase•January 25, 2017
Have had the hammer for nearly a month and it is not as durable as I though it would be. I use daily in a hydraulic shop and the plastic coating on the head is already showing major wear and cracking. I will be lucky to get another month out of this hammer. I would suggest looking into the Estwing's polyurethane deadblow hammers that are of one-piece hot cast polyurethane construction. They certainly last longer than the CCD45.
Display Picture Incorrect

I wanted the blue and yellow hammer (currently pictured) but instead got a red hammer. I did not read the description before buying and didn't see the statement "red in color". Estwing should really have the correct picture displayed anyways.
Moving on, this hammer has no exposed metal and is heavy, sturdy, and worked great when I needed to pound my drum brakes on my van loose. My husband will also use it for his Automated Packing course in college.

works great for removing the rotors

I do brake work at a shop and use this hammer mostly to remove old rotors that have become rusted / frozen onto a hub. works great for removing the rotors; doesn't dent or warp them and so far the rubber / plastic skin on the hammer hasn't cracked or punctured. the beads on the inside of the hammer gives it a solid blow when you swing it; I give it 5 stars.
Red (and not as nice) not blue and yellow
Pontus Niklasson✓ Verified Purchase•August 1, 2016
The hammer I received was red and (having seen the blue and yellow hammer pictured IRL) nowhere near as 'nice' as the one I believed I was buying. It's okay and will serve its purpose, but it feels like a cheaper product than the one in the picture for the product.
Must Have Tool.

Excellent Tool. I used this hammer to repair an improperly installed laminate flooring project. When I first inspected the work-in-progress at the job site, I knew this would require a small miracle. In order to close the separations on numerous plank joins, already installed, I needed a precision impact tool that would deliver force without destroying the impacted planks. I used this hammer, in combination with my 36" plastic block. Amazing results. This hammer is high technology, it is filled with a heavy sand, and there is no bounce upon strike, just a true dead blow. Of course, it will work as a rubber mallet too. Highly recommended.
