Mesmerizing

I didn't set out to get this---it just evolved. It all started when I read a couple magazine articles about finger spinners, a craze that has taken over with school kids. Supposedly watching the spinning is good for children with autism, and calming for kids with ADHD. I looked them up on Amazon, and found pages and pages, with a lot of hype about the benefits. The spinning is supposed to focus the hypoactive frontal lobe, so it can do its job better. (This was about the same time one of my friends had installed a bicycle lawn ornament with bicycle wheels that spin in the wind. She loved to watch the wheels spin. Her neighbors came over and told her how much they liked to watch the wheels spin.) So while on Amazon, I came across some "wind sculpture" spinning things that I thought were really neat! I was hooked when I saw this one. I intended to let it tarnish. But when I saw how it reflected the light at dusk and at night, I decided to lacquer it and keep it shiny. To me, it is pleasantly absorbing to watch the beauty and symmetry as it moves with the slightest breeze. It is stunning!
A beautiful sculpture you won't regret purchasing!

This sculpture ROCKS! It's mesmerizing and beautiful and turns in the slightest breeze. We've had this model mounted on our shed for over a year and it turns perfectly still. We loved it so much that we bought the large one for our front fence. We sprayed both sculptures with Permalac satin metal coating to protect the new copper sheen for a few years, but eventually, they will weather to a beautiful bronze or greenish patina anyway. You won't regret this purchase!
Good Quality

High quality piece. Spins a the slightest bit of wind. It's been outside for months now with no issues. Looks like it will last for a long tome. I like it a lot. If you want to keep it looking like new spray it with Permalac clear coat before you put it out. It's pricey stuff, but the best. The wind sculpture has been outside for months now and it looks like new. I wanted to maintain the shiny copper look because I can also enjoy it at night when the landscape lights on my lanai illuminate it. Otherwise, if you like the patinated copper look just leave it as it is.
Big wind hit, what do you think happened?

I bought a $75 sculpture from another vendor a year ago and it perished in a spiraling mesh of deformed metal with the first wind burst. So I upped the budget to this one and we forgot to take the head off (like we had learned to do with the previous model) before a big front rolled through. Well, sure enough the wind came overnight, snapped off a bunch of tree branches and blew over a set of kennel panels I had leaning against a tree. But the Stanwood sculpture was just spinning away. Wow! It works with anything from a whisper of a breeze to a full on front blowing through. Beautiful too.
It's Expensive -- but Worth the Cost!!

Not only is the wind sculpture beautiful, but it is very, very well constructed. This is one of those rare items that, while it is expensive, it is worth the additional cost. I did use the Rustoleum clear coat that was suggested, and my sculpture is still spotless (after having it for a couple of months). It came well packaged and all the parts were included. It was easy to put together. If you are going to spray it, I suggest you do so BEFORE you put it together. I covered all the moving parts (and covered the screw attachment parts) with paint tape before I sprayed. You do NOT want to get the Rustoleum on to the moving parts. I gave it two coats and let it dry for 24 hours. I then assembled the unit (VERY EASY TO ASSEMBLE) and pounded the prongs into the ground. Despite some very strong winds the sculpture is still straight up and working like a champ. I do plan on eventually buying at least one or two other wind sculptures and I will definitely purchase from this company. The company has videos on their website so you can see how the sculpture looks when the wind is blowing. I was NOT paid to write this posting, I did not get a discount. I ordered this wind sculpture based on the large number of favorable reviews on Amazon and paid full price ... and I am very impressed!
