Bend my saw teeth like a pro
Make sure to use it under good lighting

This saw set works amazing. I used it on an old saw from a flea market that needed a lot of attention. This is the second saw set I have ever used, but it was easy. The tool does all of the work for you. Just line it up and squeeze. The only issue I had was that the plastic above the action needs the light right above it or the shadow makes it difficult to see the teeth. Once you figure out how to line it up, it does the job no issues at all.
Surprised me

This saw works better than I expected. Out of the box it actually cut pretty well, however after cleaning plate with acetone it cut even better. After that I took the kerf from .044 down to .034, which made saw less agressive and a bit slower in the cut ,but smoother kerf ( plate.027 ). Then I ran a 4 four inch file over the teeth at a ten degree rake and it cut better, one more pass and it was better yet. The final inch or so i did the Paul sellers relaxed tooth rake so it starts easy (this actually works). The saw isn't as fast as out of the box but cuts and starts smoother and fells right. This saw comes filed rip, but with 14 teeth per inch it cross cuts pretty well. Now for aesthetics, brass back is plenty hefty and saw cuts well and better under gravity, but the back needs a polish up and the toe needs filed where it was sheered, not that big a deal. as most have stated the handle is not great looking and the horns don't fit my hand well (medium large at 3 3/4 inch). Diameter of grip is too big also. Both of these issues will be addressed by filing the back of the handle, and can be done with plate still attached. For the price of the saw and a file you can't go wrong.
handle is 'small' and a bit hard to use

Just about everyone says this is made for a 'small petite woman's hands',,,ok? Hello Manufacturer, are you listening?? I'm going to take a file and file about 1/4" or more here and there on it to fit my MANLY HANDS. Ladies should be impressed... Have a nice day.
Good, fundamental, hand saw.

This is a good basic hand saw for wood. Like the one your dad (or granddad) had in his wood shop. I've had lots of trouble making clean, square, cuts in lumber with modern 'hybrid' hardened-tooth saws like all the home centers carry now. First thing I did with this saw was mark off a 1" slice of 2x4 and test if I could freehand a square cut, and sure enough it passed. This saw cuts and behaves like a real old-fashioned saw like my dad taught me with.
Quibbles:
1 - the handle is laughably oversized - I'm a large-stature guy (6'4", 230 lbs) and there's at least an extra finger's worth of room in the handle even for me. It's not uncomfortable though, just unnecessarily large.
2 - There's an anti-rust film on the plate/blade, that causes a bit of extra friction with the wood. I suspect it will feel a lot better in the cut if I strip this off, but it has kept the blade rust-free without any effort or measures on my part.
Overall - very pleased I found this, before going and spending a small fortune on a vintage tool.
