I need a little more precision and the occasional binding from the balls in the race is not good.

You get what you pay for. As a lazy susan it's ok. I need a little more precision and the occasional binding from the balls in the race is not good.
Could be better....

This was purchased to replace a plastic one with but a few steel (read: rustable...) ball bearings. That lasted a half-dozen years. Initially, I was impressed by the machining and continuous ball bearings retained by the two aluminium rings. With the close tolerance between the two, these have to be perfectly concentric. Unfortunately, any eccentricity will cause it to bind. Even after the application of lithium grease, the unit I purchased still bound - at one spot - otherwise it turns nicely. Not sure if I can fix it....
More importantly, I don't know the composition of the ball bearings. If these are not stainless, the galvanic action between the dissimilar metals will render it inoperative PDQ if used outdoors.
Judging from the reviews, it's the luck of the draw whether you get a perfect one - or something significantly less.

Great Lazy Susan !

Works beautifully on my patio table. I now have a fully functioning "Lazy Susan" that will hold several hundred pounds of food...lol.
Great quality and will not break as my last plastic one did. You won't be disappointed!

Strong but a bit sticky bearing
The Prof•April 5, 2015
I purchased this bearing twice, for making 15 inch diameter lazy susans. I found that both bearings I bought, though very sturdy and capable of holding a lot of weight, were a bit stickier than I'd have liked. These are manufactured by VXB, but customer service at the website could not really offer support for bearings purchased via this route. They told me I could lubricate with a light machine oil or silicone lubricant. I applied some 3-in-1 oil quite sparingly, as I did not want it to bleed onto the wood I was attaching. That loosened things up a bit, but the lazy susans still had a tendency to slide rather than turn when not loaded. I replaced the hard plastic feet with small "grippy" rubber feet on the bottom and that helped immensely. Those hard plastic feet tended to fall out of their mounting holes anyhow.
All the sizes in the description were spot on, but these are industrial grade products. Measure before you cut.

Exactly As Hoped For

I ordered this as a replacement for the lazy susan bearing set that came with my patio table. The original was plastic and after a few years fell apart. I'm impressed by this one because it isn't plastic, so I expect much longer life, rotates easily and smoothly, and grips the table well.
