If your mama didn't pass along her butt genes, this thing is glorious! Probably pretty nice if you do have a natural cushion too

I bought a 2004 BMW R1150R a while back and really like the bike. But the seat isn't very good and I'm lacking in the natural cushion department. After seeking out others' experience with Airhawk products, I gave it a shot and am SO glad that I did. The toughest part is figuring what size to get. As others have mentioned, the key to this thing working right is to inflate it a fair amount (not all the way), attach it to the bike and ride for a little while. The initial weirdness of the cushion shifting under your butt as you speed up and slow down will 1) become normal and 2) be far less noticeable (possibly even absent) once you have properly adjusted it by letting air out a little at a time. You want just enough to keep your butt off the motorcycle seat, but not so much that your sloshing around on a water park ride. It may take a few tries, and you may even let too much air out and have to puff a little back in... But this thing has been AMAZING for me.
A Notch Below the Old Style

This is the second one of these I've owned. The first one split a seam after 4 years. I don't like this current reincarnation as well as the first. They've changed the material it's constructed of and not for the better. The previous bladder was constructed of a neoprene rubber compound, this one is made from polyethylene. The new material stretches a lot more so I'm finding that the air bladders tend to "bleed" into the front bladders and make them bigger and harder while at the same time decreasing the support of the bladders you actually sit on. I'm finding I have to stop fairly frequently and push the air back into the rear bladders every time the front ones get big and hard between my legs which pretty much negates this being a comfortable cushion. Also, the older style had a neck extension on the air fill valve that routed it to the side of the bladder for fairly easy filling. The new fill valve is located on a short stem at the back of the seat so you have to unzip more of the cover to get to it. Also, if you don't adjust the cushion just right, you can feel the valve poke into your butt. A case of newer not being better. I miss my old one so I'm going to look on line for a used one and keep this as a backup.
Works well until you brake, accelerate or get into the curves ...

Very comfortable and takes the hots spots away on long straight rides. The design allows air to pass from one compartment to another, thereby equalizing pressure to all areas of your butt. This is fine when cruising on straight highways, just covering miles. However during braking, acceleration and twisties, the constant movement of air between the pockets makes you feel very unstable in your saddle. I remove the pad when riding anywhere but the freeway. To be fair, I ride fairly aggressively for a guy who rides an american v-twin. If you just toodle around, you'll probably not be quite as critical.
If you ride, BUY IT!!

On long rides, my rear end would ache terribly. I got a gel/memory foam pad, and it was okay at first. Then I parked the bike in the sun while I visited with a friend. When I came back out, I rode a few miles before realizing my butt was burning hot! I stopped and used a digital laser infrared thermometer to compare the temperatures of the pad and the unpadded pillion. The pillion came in at 95 degrees. The pad was 125, and that was after having ridden for a short distance! I talked with my bike guy, who recommended the Airhawk from personal experience. I bought my Airhawk and have never looked back. Recently took a trip to Denver, and I was comfy the whole way out, and the whole way back. After that, came a trip to KCMO, and into/around Arkansas, and the Airhawk pampered my buttocks the entire way. I am sold on Airhawk, and will heartily recommend it to everyone who rides. A bit pricey? Yes. Worth every penny? Yes, Yes, Yes!!
Design flaw...

Even though the seat is comfortable, as reported by others, I'm giving it only 2 stars because the seat sprung a leak only a week into my multi-week ride. And the leak, similar to what has been been reported by others, occurred at the base of the valve. A hard plastic piece sits inside the bladder, anchoring the valve. But over daily use and bladder flexing, the hard plastic with sharp edge is going to jab against the bladder and eventually cause a puncture. If you're mostly a local rider, 1/2 hour here and there, then it will take awhile for the puncture to happen. But, if your going on a long trip, riding 6+ hours a day, then the puncture will happen much sooner - as was my case.

Ok, the product is warrantied and they'll send me a replacement bladder, but it won't be long, I fully expect, before the puncture happens in the exact same spot. The company needed to beef up this area of the bladder with thicker material.
