Simple no-nonsense frame

THE simple black frame for everyday use. I'm an amateur photographer who occasionally manages to capture a photo that's "worth the wall." I like to print my favorite shots on 13X19 paper, and these are the perfect plain black frames for the job. They come with protective plastic over the plexiglass, so step one is to remove that covering. Holding a clean rag over your hands while doing this will greatly reduce the time you then need to spend wiping fingerprints off the plexiglass. With the covering removed and the plexiglass carefully wiped clean, put the plexiglass back in the frame, add the photo, then the cardboard, and then after checking carefully for dust on the inside of the plexiglass, bend the metal tabs back down to hold it all in place. Be sure to check for dust and smears *before* bending the metal tabs back down, as you can bend those tabs only a limited number of times before they will break off. Next, the hanger: It comes with two screws, two cable holders, a piece of light metal cable, and a picture hanger which you nail to the wall (and loop the cable over). The hanger hardware does not come already attached to the frame. You have to install the hanger hardware after you decide which way to hang the frame--landscape or portrait. All it takes is a Phillips screwdriver and a measuring tape. A wire cutter is nice if you want to cut off the extra cable (which is about twice as long as you need), although the cable is light enough that a good pair of scissors also will cut it. These are the frames to buy if you want a nice clean look--nothing fancy, and nothing that will break the bank.
I Got Framed!

Very nice frame! I couldn't find any frames this size locally, so Craig Frames had this beauty on Amazon, and whaddya-know... it's prettier than the store's frames. Very nice finish to the frame. I liked that the plastic material had a protective film to remove on BOTH sides... so there was no nicks or scratches at all. The frame itself was packed very well in the carton. There's no way it would have been damaged in transit (unless the shipping company made a big mistake but they didn't). Very easy to remove the back, get the cardboard out of the way, remove the films, and put a big picture inside. I'd totally buy Craig Frames again!
Beautifully crafted frames

This is actually the second time I have ordered a frame from Craig Frames. These are very well built frames that look very professional for less than half of the cost. I only have the black ones, so I don't know how the other finishes look, but the ones I have are very clean and look beautiful.

The other thing that I really love is that they ship it in a way that the frame and acrylic are very well protected. The acrylic also comes with a protective film on both sides so it is completely clean and clear right out of the box.

I highly recommend these frames to anyone and everyone looking for a great quality frame that won't break the bank.
I really like these frames despite the work they require

I really like these frames despite the work they require. For $21 for a 13x19 frame, it's to be expected that there will be some things about them that are not "top quality", such as needing some assembly.

Basically you get the frame, plexiglass, a cardboard backer and some mounting hardware and wire. The process is pretty straightforward, but just know that when you hang with wire, the further down the picture (vertically) you put the mounting hardware, the more tilt you are going to get when you hang the frames on the wall if they aren't right up against the wall.

Bend back some little metal tabs on the back of the frame, pull out the cardboard, pull out the plexiglass and remove the protective plastic, replace the plexiglass, put in your poster / picture, replace the cardboard, re-bend the little tabs, mount the hardware, tie on the wire to the desired length, and hang. There is some adjustment involved with wire hanging if you have more than one frame to hang unless you get the wire the exact same length not just when gutting but when wrapping it to stay in place on the hardware. That shouldn't be too much of a problem given that you can just keep adjusting the wire until you get it right.

Looks great when finished and is good quality for the price, but you are paying about $20 for a large frame, so don't expect the quality of a $100+ dollar frame and do expect to put a little work in.
Exceptional packaging, mediocre frame. Good enough.

5 star packaging, 3 star framing, 2 star backing. The manufacturer's shipping packaging was exceptional, but the frames themselves are mediocre. I ordered nine (9) of these frames. The frames arrived slightly scuffed on the sides and even though the corners of the frame match up nicely (on most of them) from a front view, not a single corner aligns where the frame pieces meet. Pictures below. This is a problem when the frames are hung on the wall because at least two corners are visible from any angle a viewer would see the framed photo/picture. I'm not returning them, though, because my work/off work hours don't correlate to business hours of UPS. Even if they did, it's not worth the effort. I'm using black lacquer to conceal the imperfect corners. That's good enough for what I need them for (military class photos to go on display).
That being said, I'd order them again for future photos solely to keep the frames uniform. I do think they should be sold for about $3 less than their current price, though. Then I'd give a 5 star rating for the quality based on price. Otherwise, they are reasonably priced if you are just looking for this size frame for a picture you don't have a lot of pride invested in. I would not use this frame for a picture I enjoyed looking at repeatedly.
