reviewers had good things to say

thought the scale was on the up and up. reviewers had good things to say. Tested against another smaller scale that i have calibrated, this thing is off nearly 30%. It was weighing 50 lbs as 37. Not acceptable for any purposes. I didnt notice until day 31 of amazons return window. Which only means i was weighing everything important completely wrong. what a waste of time and money just get a triple beam and be done with it.
Love the scale - Hate the assembly
Doug Norman✓ Verified Purchase•July 24, 2016
I love this scale and I haven't even used it. So why 3 stars? Assembly was a horribly long experience. It should take five minutes and two tools - a screw driver and an Allen wrench (which is provided). But it took me over an hour, and I'm a mechanical guy with a shop full of tools.
Assembly only involves 8 screws: 4 to mount the pipe brackets to the base, and 4 to hold the stand pipes in those pipe brackets. I first bolted the brackets to the stand, and then proceeded to mount the stand in those brackets. The problem is the pipe of the stand doesn't fit into the bracket pipe holes (which are about 3-inches deep). The first extra tool I used was a flat file to put a rounded lip on the pipe - that didn't work. Next I used a cylindrical file to round the inside edge of the brackets - that didn't work. Next I used 80 grit industrial sandpaper to remove all the paint from the lower three inches of the pipe - still wouldn't fit. Finally I removed the brackets, took them to my drill press and reamed them out with a one-inch bit - success! With the holes drilled out to one-inch, I was able to easily insert the pipe.
It really sucks that assembly was this difficult. I purposely didn't buy a "cheap" scale, because I don't like dinking around with poorly designed equipment. But obviously nobody at the factory has tried assembling one of these = unacceptable.
All that said, after sweating through an hour of assembly, I can't wait to use this scale. I'll be testing it this weekend when we harvest the vineyard, and I'll report back.

Great scale
Arrived damaged but fine after all
Bug man✓ Verified Purchase•December 19, 2013
Package arrived badly damaged. Big hole on one side that was taped up.
More of a carrier problem than a product problem.
Figured my nuts and bolts pack had to be missing, but found them inside.
One of the leveling feet was bent, I was able to straighten it and worked fine.
Great little scale for the price.
