These are the most comfortable grips available
Tom. Harris✓ Verified PurchaseNovember 11, 2023
These are the most comfortable grips available. The ones for the 1800 will fit over the heated grips found on the Harleys and CanAm Spyders. Most heated grips are hard rubber and small in diameter, thus, uncomfortable. These over covering grips are larger in diameter and softer. A much more comfortable grip to the palm. Just a slight trimming of the ridge at the end of the heated grips and these will slip over. Use Windex to help with the slipping on process. The heated grips will still work but just take a bit longer to heat up the covering grips. I have done this on six bikes.
Very comfortable and good looking

My hands were cramping after riding for a couple of hours in strong gusty winds. These grips have solved that problem, in style. They are more challenging to install than I expected. The directions are good and complete, although I found it easier to have the rubber tube portions fully installed into the two chrome halves (without inserting any screws) as it gave me something solid to force the rubber tubes over the existing grips. You have to ensure that the raised rubber sections are completely inserted into the notch-outs in the chrome before installing if you do it this way. I also used a pair of large Channel-Lock pliers (and a towel to protect the chrome) to squeeze the grip halves together so the screws would properly line up and go in easy. I was really concerned about cross-threading the screws as it seemed like it would be very easy to do.
Awesome grips just very tedious to install not hard just have to research the proper way

That they threaded holes for the screws were not clean and if you're not careful you'll break the screws are stripped out the whole entirely

Second pair of these grips; first pair on '06 Goldwing, chrome. My current '16 Wing is chrome-free; these black grips compliment the stock bars nicely. As another reviewer noted, the installation instructions are correct. Follow them. Friendly suggestion; work the grips before attempting installation. Put them together in your hands, separate, repeat. Windex or similar cleaner a must! Soak the OEM grips and slide these right on. Zip ties - as suggested - another must. Really helps when screwing two halves of each grip together. Lastly, grips heat-up nicely; not as warm as 'pre-installation' of the ISO grips but plenty warm enough. Highly recommend.
That was easy because the sleeve is movable for quite a while ...

Just installed on 2014 black GL1800. Installation went very well. Used Windex to help slide the sleeves on. Not a problem. You have to line up the notch on the right grip with the heat wire at the bottom of the grip. That was easy because the sleeve is movable for quite a while after it is slipped on. The left grip also has a notch for the heated grip wire. The actual notch for the heat wire is on the outer shell halves. I used 3 16" cable ties per side to bring the outer shell halves together. Just line them up on the 3 flat spots (on outer shell) between the pads. Tighten the center tie first, then the other 2. It pulls the halves together beautifully so they lock in place. Then put in the screws that hold the halves together ( 3 on the right and 2 on the left). Next the endcaps and screws. Don't forget the long screw for the left grip that goes in before the endcap. After this is done cut the ties loose and you're done! 30 to 40 minutes with no prior experience doing a job like this. Read the instructions. They are correct!
