Good Pump, But Still Have Steering Issue
Donald C Dorfman✓ Verified Purchase•July 25, 2023
The pump is as advertised and put out 1290lbs at 3gpm, 1500rpm, which I measured. It is a 12 vane pump but that is not much of an advantage. What I don't know without taking it apart is if it is a type 185 pump with the deeper vanes and convex cover. The deeper vanes give more output at idle. My steering issue is steering locks up at low speed on the brakes (have hydroboost). Foot off the brakes and steering comes right back
Update 7/15/22, I have taken apart the pump for an inspection just to see what it is made of. I found one .026 shim under the valve which I removed to raise the pressure. The valve had a .161 outlet orifice. The thrust plate, pressure plate, ring and rotor were all standard low flow parts not the concave cover and thicker parts.

Works Great for 2004.5 LLY Duramax

This is an improved design and works better than the one that GM specifies for my truck. Unlike the original, this one will let you use the brakes and turn the steering wheel at the same time when the engine is idling (imagine wanting to do that some times!!). I knocked off 1 star only because I can sometimes hear a slight whine (although my wife can't). Actually, I don't mind the slight whine! Another reviewer suggested using only genuine GM power steering fluid, but I just use good ol' cheap Prestone.
REQUIRED!! Be sure to buy a pulley remover/installer. I bought "OEMTOOLS 27031 Pulley Puller/Installer" which worked just fine.

Fits LBZ Trucks
MD✓ Verified Purchase•July 16, 2023
Although AMZ will indicate that this pump doesn't fit the LBZ trucks, it does in fact fit (perfectly). This is the 12 vane pump found in the post 2007.5 and up trucks (LMM). The original LBZ pump has 10 vanes. If you're running larger than stock tires this pump can help with the steering. Note that it is a "Made in China" AC Delco product and hence the 4 stars.
