Great teaching toy for 6 yr old

Great product for teaching my 6 yr old son. Use a little silicon lubricant on the O-ring and the inside of the cylinder to make it run smoother, otherwise it can stick if sitting for a couple days.

Not very easy to assemble but once I did, it worked. It is not a smooth operating pump .. it seems stuck but it really is not. The most important thing is that it works and that it does not leak.
Functioning pump with educational value

I bought this for my eight year old son. It was easy to assemble and appears sturdy. We started assembling together, but my son wandered off when we were about half done. He was very pleased to see it function. We also rejigged the tubes a bit to simulate a well (a bowl of water under the pump) and the drop in the water table as the water was pumped out. A little bit of food color or finger paint in the water can make it easier to see how the water flows through the pump. One word of caution: try not to use the pump without water in it. One of the washers threatened to pop out when we tried to run it when dry.
