Bought this because I have a soft top and sometimes keep stuff in my Jeep. We all know that the glove compartment and the center console are easy to break open so this is a life saver. Not to mention, it is not visible so people looking in won't see it right off the bat.
Installation was easy and took no time at all - though you may need a breaker bar if you're a smaller girl (work smarter not harder ladies). It is a bit smaller than I expected, I'm not sure a full sized semiautomatic would fit, but for smaller things it is just fine. It has a felt bottom so than that is nice too.

Be careful if you are buying this for a new Wrangler. We have a 2017 Willys, which this was supposed to fit.The box label said "2011-Current" Unfortunately, the opening for the USB connection is in the wrong place. Lucky for me, I happened to see a Bestop rep at a off road show, and he agreed to swap it out for their display so I didn't have to bother returning it. The updated design has one long opening, for both the 12v plug and the USB. The older one has two seperate openings, and will not fit. So since the ad listed this as fitting a 2017 and it didn't, I'm giving it 3 stars. The actual product seems ok. Just a metal box, not too much to mess up there.

Revised my original review- still 5 star quality!! Installed in 2013, 4 door Jeep (JKU) fits perfect!! But you do need to remove the wiring bracket (torx screw heads) that is attached to seat frame. Slightly awkward to reach. You may want to take a look under your seat. Only need to loosen the front bolts of seat- 18mm. We had to go buy the socket, wasn't included with our socket set. I tried the key lock, lock/unlocked it several times, no problems. The locking bar is recessed about 1/2". Doesn't seem possible that a screw driver could pry this open, although a crow bar might. I bought the drivers side box, seems in awkward position to easily open without key. Very professional looking when installed. Am very satisfied customer!!

I wish it was just a bit bigger, but the seat limits the size. I also wish there was a way to request a specific key code so I could have my driver and passenger boxes keyed alike. I emailed the manufacturer to buy a matching lock, but I probably won't hear back for 24 hours. You can put keys, small notebooks, checkbooks, wallets, jewelry, and similar items. Small firearms will fit. The flatter the better if they're in a holster. The padding in the drawer should prevent scratches.

When I installed it, I couldn't get both tabs under the seat brackets like the instructions said. I had to put one under and one over the seat brackets. There are pictures of this type of install on the internet, so I didn't worry about it.

This is well built locking storage system for Jeep Wrangler Unlimited's by Bestop! This unit is made of heavy gage steel and I feel it would take a while to pry it open and or damage the key hole lock, due the front entry door being just slightly set back inside the frame. It provides enough storage for a hand gun, wallet, cell pone, sunglasses or whatever that is not too tall or wide. This unit comes with 2 keys and was packed very well, so don't worry about shipping damage because its packed very well.

This storage box was very easy to install by screwing 7 phillips head screws to mount the seat bolt mounting bar and the rear spacer to make it level with the floor. The just loosen the front seat frame bolts and remove a wiring support bracket from under the seat, that will be in your way on the 2013 and newer Unlimited's by removing two T-30 torx screws from the in of the seat track. I was able to do this using a T-30 torx screwdriver without removing the seat or loosening the rear seat bolts at all. Then side the box in under the seat while guiding the seat wiring above the storage box and re-secure the two front seat bolts. The entire install process took 15 minuets.
