Good for the money

Had initial unit for a little over 18 mo. Pretty easy to set up. Had a couple of questions, but the support was very helpful. Worked fine, then there was a problem with the control panel. Was disappointed I couldn't just buy a new control panel so I had to get a whole new kit. OK, I installed the new control panel and experienced a problem. This time a different support person was not only not helpful, but refused to answer my emails after I told him the solution he gave me didn't work, -- Anyhow, in a last ditch effort to try to get this unit working, I called them. This time I got a WONDERFUL, very patient support person. Since buying the first unit, I worked with 3 different support people. Two were very good, the other one cost them a 5th star. One bad apple??? Good system for the money.
So-so System

I ordered this very basic system plus an extra motion sensor. I only installed one door switch, which works fine. The motion detector supplied with the SC-100W kit was defective and had to be returned to Amazon, which did replace it. However, the installation instructions describe a "walk test" that is supposed to be done with each motion detector before finalizing installation. When I performed the walk test on both detectors they did not trigger, and I first assumed that they were also defective. I then proceeded directly to arm them (different procedure than walk test) and both worked fine. So my recommendation is to skip the walk test as it is misleading.
Decent unit for an apartment or condo. A bit more complicated to operate than it should be.

It's good for the price that you pay. It works fine, but is not intuitive. Arming and disarming requires you to enter your code plus a one or two character code (that's what the A, B, & C are for). Other units have "Stay", "Away", "Disarm" buttons. For this unit you have to remember that hitting "AC" means one thing and "CC' means another, etc. Granted, it has more different modes than some others, but who can remember how to enable them without a guide. For example, it has 1) Arm doors & motion with delayed entrance. 2) Armed doors/windows with delayed entrance 3) Armed doors/windows with immediate alarm 4) Armed doors/windows with delayed exit and entrance 5) Chime. Possibly another mode too. But you have to punch in character sequences to set those. The remote control basically does the equivalent of "Stay", "Away" and "Disarm" and that's what they highlight in the user's manual.

The siren is OK, but it's not horribly loud. The transmitters are a bit large.

But it works fine, it hasn't false-alarmed and the indicator panel clearly displays what it's doing. For an apartment or condo it's a decent option for the money. You may need a post-it note next to it to remind yourself what characters have to follow your code to arm and disarm. Oh, and why require a code to "arm"? I prefer when I can arm it by just pressing a button.
False trips when a sensor battery gets low
Discerning purchaser✓ Verified PurchaseJuly 14, 2015
This is definitely NOT the unit to use if you're going to be gone for extended periods of time because when the battery gets low in the motion sensor, it sends false trips that set off the alarm every 5 minutes for several days. This piercing alarm will annoy your neighbors, your phone won't stop ringing, and you essentially won't have an effective alarm.
I initially liked the system, and even ordered a second system for a relative's house before I discovered the low battery problem. The batteries that come with the device are garbage, and should be immediately replaced. If replaced annually, and religiously, you might not have any problems. However, if you do have an issue, keep in mind that the customer service is AWFUL.
The manual clearly states that when the battery gets low, the sensors just won't work. But, instead, they send false trips. The factory required I pay the postage to send mine in for repair, where they supposedly fixed it. The sensor they sent back, however, didn't trip on anything, especially motion!!! (I guess, in theory, my problem was fixed, right? No more false trips. Haha). I contacted customer service again multiple times about the faulty motion sensor, but they refuse to do anything more.
So.. Beware...
Worth the Money

A little confusing at first. However there are videos available as well as good instruction online. The customer service contacted me via email quickly, but I figured out the configuration before I received their email. Once hooked up, the system works perfectly and flawlessly. My advice is to read the instructions several times and you will get an understanding how the system works. Skylink advised me that this system is specifically put together for Amazon. Therefore programming each sensor is necessary and understanding where to put each sensor in specific zones is imperative to a good running system. Overall, this system is worth every penny. I'm set up to call me when the alarm is activated and upon receiving the call I can easily look at my security cameras and if I don't like what I see, I call the police. There is only one thing I would like and that is the ability to turn off the alarm remotely through the phone. However Skylink has a system that works through the internet that can do just that.
