Phantom Power Can Not Be Turned Off!!!! May Fry Your Connected Equipment if You Don't Require Phantom Power!!!
J. TaylorMay 12, 2015
WARNING!!!! Phantom Power CAN NOT be turned off!!! This is a mis-engineered piece of equipment that may hurt your other equipment it is attached to if you don't require phantom power!!!

Before I ordered, I wrote TC Helicon and asked if the Phantom power not having a switch to turn it off would hurt my Shure wireless receiver. They wrote me back and said:

"Phantom power will not hurt any device. The only thing I would recommend is that you have everything connected before turning on your devices, this way there will not be a surge of any sort."

Then I posted their answer on the top electronics/electrical engineering forum and all agreed that phantom power can in fact hurt your other equipment if the phantom power is not needed. Also here is an article on this subject supporting the engineering communit answer and my conclusion. Pay attention the this quote in the following link:

"Phantom power can, and occasionally does, destroy the output stages of keyboards and other equipment, so taking simple steps to protect against an inadvertent accident might be deemed sensible."

http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/oct09/articles/qa1009_3.htm

I did not need the phantom power even though I am using a condenser mic that requires it. Why? because I was hooking my Shure wireless receiver to the T1 input and from the T1 output going to my amp. I had a problem with feedback right out of the box regardless of gain and compressor settings and come to find out this may be attributed to the phantom power from the T1 going into my Shure wireless receiver. Now there is a chance that my expensive Shure unit is damaged although I don't think so because the problem is resolved when I remove the T1 altogether.

But be forewarned...if you don't require phantom power DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES order this product, It is alarming that they are covering this problem up and continue to sell this product to those who don't require phantom power. No telling how many fried equipment they are responsible for which could have bee avoided just with a on/off switch for phantom power like every other device on planet earth has.

One has to wonder if TC Helicon can't get the engineering correct on a simple on/off switch for phantom power what is the rest of the T1 engineered like?

GREAT EFFECT HELPER!!!

Vocalists have very limited options when it comes to effects at their end. Most sound people say, "Ohh, your not gonna sound right" or, "You'll mess up the signal and cause feedback" I'm happy to say this pedal does not do that and is a mild, effective increase in quality. Sadly, they'll still say that they'd rather you didn't use anything to change you vocal dynamic. They can go pound sand! This makes a difference.
Smoooooth...

This T1 unit really can take the edge off of your voice. While it won't over-color your voice, it just gently adds shape and warmth. I've used some of the other VoiceTone pedals in my signal chain, but have taken them all out, except the T1.

IMO it is the best vocal pedal in the TC Helicon Offerings!
Everything it's cracked up to be

It's rare that a company's advertising catch phrases are accurate but in this case they're dead on with "...like your own personal sound engineer in a box."

This pedal brings clarity and depth to your vocal regardless of the PA that your playing out of.

I call it my "Make it better pedal"
