Love the feel of this brush -- but I used ...

Love the feel of this brush -- but I used it for large scale oil painting, and it completely disintegrated after 2 sessions. Bristles got all over the painting, and finally started coming out in clumps. I used oil paint, Citrasolve and linseed oil. The Citrasolv must have dissolved the glue that held the bristles together. However, I also used the 2" Freestyle paddle brush with the same products and that held up really well. Go figure. (On a smaller project, I would use Terpenoid instead of Citrasolv, but on large scale brushes, that's hard to take.)
Wanted to love it

I was really excited to order this brush, but I don't love it. It's too stiff to use for varnish, and the bristles are not even at the edge which makes it difficult to use for anything other than gesso or background painting.
Big Disappointment

I take great care with my brushes and after using this one three times, a big chunk of bristles fell out. I expect better quality in a "professional" brush that costs $43. I love the width, but this brush is big disappointment. Unfortunately, I didn't use it right away so the window for return has passed otherwise, I would get a refund.
it really didn't provide a "WOW" factor

I'm an abstract painter that throws, splatters, and experiments with lots of different abstract tools to apply my paint. I purchased this brush hoping for a "new" or "different" affect from the various tools I already have. I really found nothing special about this brush when used to splatter acrylic, soft body to high flow paint. I could reproduce the same affects with a brush. I also compared the patterns this brush produces compared to the Brushes drummers use. Metal and plastic, produce the same affect as this brush, the advantage with a drummers brush is its adjustable. My personal opinion and experience with throwing paint is that the results depend more on the consistency of the paint than the tool your using to apply it with. Also the distance you stand from canvas, and the amount of force you use to swing the brush. And of corse how much paint you put on the brush before you swing it. I'm not total dissatisfied with having this brush in my tool collection, but it really didn't provide a "WOW" factor.
Exactly what I've been looking for!

Really enjoying using these brushes for free style abstract acrylic. I have been searching for a wide thin bristle brushes. The cheap ones shed REALLY BAD! The high quality wide brushes I've found have thick deep bristles, which hold a tremendous amount of paint. I needed a brush that is wide and will move or spread the paint on the canvas, thicker brushes of this size act more like a mop brush. Maybe another way to describe the action I found with this brush is comparable to a squeegee. (this is if you apply heavy pressure with lots of paint) Turn the brush sideways and it creates great fine lines perfect for very large canvases. I also like the feeling this brush has in your hand. Without a typical handle, you can maneuver the brush in different ways to create new affects. I would highly recommend this brush to any painter that likes to experiment with different tools. The only complaint I have is the price. That's a selfish complaint, I would like to have a dozen of these brushes, but can't quite afford it at the moment. Although you get what you pay for here. Liquitex makes a great product.
