You get what you pay for- and this is super cheap
Susan Hansford✓ Verified Purchase•July 10, 2017
I currently own a chrome tension unit that looks identical to this one and I've had it for over 20 years in my master bathroom- I absolutely love it and so when I needed to get one for my guest room for an extended stay guest, I looked for one just like it. I thought I remembered paying over $100 for my current one, but after 20 years I really wasn't sure... Now I am sure because at a mere $25 this is priced right. It is definitely not worth a penny more because this one is very very flimsy and cheap. I will be surprised if it even lasts a year. My other one had thumbscrews on the baskets to adjust the height and this one has plastic wedges that you push the baskets onto to keep them in place- cheap thin metal tubes too. The whole thing looks and feels weak and it wobbles terribly. My distance from tub ledge to ceiling is only 5' which is the shortest dimension you can make it- if I used it at any higher length I'm sure it would wobble and probably fall down with too much pressure or weight. If you want a short lived product go for it because it is cheap.
Fits limited heights
Stephenie✓ Verified Purchase•October 12, 2016
Be aware that the tension pole only works for limited heights. From the floor to the ceiling in my shower is 91 inches. The package information claims that it fits up to 97 inches. With all of the extensions, the pole is too long to fit 91 inches. Maybe 93 would work if you hang from it like a monkey to compress the spring enough. It was not possible for 150lb of pressure to shorten the spring by 6 inches. (See my photos.) I tried taking the optional pole out of the unit and it was way too short for a 91 inch ceiling.
I also tried to install it from the shower bench (same height as the tub rim) to the ceiling - a height of 74 inches. The pole was too long for that. (See my photos.) This product was useless to me and I am returning it.
The shelves didn't seem very secure, though maybe the weight of items on the shelf would cause the rubber ring holding the shelves in place to become more secure. I'm also not sure if the black would rust over time as some have mentioned happens with the chrome. It's not a bad unit, if your ceilings happen to be the right height.

Pay close attention to which pole caddy you order...
The chrome and bronze caddies have quarter-round shelves. The satin nickel has L-shaped shelves. I have used both the chrome and the satin nickel caddies in our shower, and am providing a comparison:
CHROME CADDY--
The reviews that say the chrome caddy shelves rust are correct. (Those are the pictures with the quarter-round shelves.) I had the same problem and it developed very quickly, in a matter of months. The quarter-round shelf design is okay for holding shampoo, soup dishes, etc. There's also a rack for hanging a washcloth (see bottom shelf). However, if you like to turn your shampoo bottles upside down to get every last drop, they don't balance well in this shelf design. And I don't feel this quarter-round design holds as much stuff, nor is it as sturdy when weighted down with items. Because of how the weight is distributed on the quarter-round shelves, our pole kept moving out from the corner it was in. I see on here that the Bronze Caddy also has the quarter-round shelves. I've never had the bronze color, so don't know if that finish rusts quickly or not.
SATIN NICKEL CADDY--
However, I now have the satin nickel finish with the L-shaped shelves. I've owned this for almost two years; it is the second one I've owned. (I can't remember how long we had our first L-shaped caddy, but I replaced it with a new one when we moved--the new one was advertised as a non-stick finish.) I'm just now noticing the beginning of some rust underneath the shelves, hence the four stars instead of five. But honestly I expect to see some corrosion over time, considering it's in our shower. I guess I could pull it apart and clean it up, but my time is worth more so I'm just ordering another one. I'm glad to see it's still available.
I have to say that I LOVE the L-shaped shelves. They hold more stuff and are sturdier than the quarter-round shelves. I did miss the rack for hanging washcloths, but it's not a big deal. I love the "L" shape of the shelves enough that a rack for washcloths doesn't matter. The shelves hold a lot of bottles and soap dishes, and we can keep the bottles upside down without any problem.
I should say that we are a family of five adults: Grandpa, my husband and me, and two young adults aged 22 and almost 18. We live in tight quarters with only one tub/shower for all of us, and this caddy with its L-shaped shelves keeps everything very neat and tidy. I use wooden clothespins with people's names written on them (with a Sharpie) to clip scrubbers and washcloths onto the edge of the shelves, to help keep things organized. People like using their own bar soaps, too, so I have plastic soap dishes (that drain) with their names written on the side, that sit very neatly in these shelves. My daughter also keeps her razors in a re-purposed plastic frosting container with holes poked in the bottom for drainage. It, too, fits nicely in these shelves. I love how someone can go in and shower, and when they're finished there's no mess of bottles, soaps, or razors to clean up. It all stays well-organized and easy to use in this caddy, thus keeping our entire bathroom neat and tidy all of the time.
If I have any problems with the new satin nickel caddy I'm ordering, I'll update my review here to reflect it. But so far, I've been very satisfied with this item.

Punched a hole in my ceiling.
Nicholas J Wilson✓ Verified Purchase•October 31, 2015
This worked great for about 2 weeks, looked really nice as well, but it ended up punching a hole in my ceiling. This was partially the result of a thin ceiling, but also an issue with the spring loaded design. My ceiling was just high enough that the short extension didn't work, but the regular one required a great deal of pressure before it would fit. So, there ended up being a ton of pressure being exerted by the spring on my ceiling. It was definitely an interesting real-world physics experiment, but ultimately a hole in the ceiling is no good. I'd recommend a design that twists into place rather than uses a spring.
I am totally in love with this shower caddy
Cindi Clubbs✓ Verified Purchase•April 1, 2015
I am totally in love with this shower caddy! It took a bit of maneuvering because my shower is in an alcove with a lower ceiling than most. There are two poles--one for a tall ceiling and one for a short ceiling. My ceiling was a bit shorter than the pole allows. The spring inside the caddy was very tight but after loosening it up a bit, I got the caddy to fit into the smaller space.
The shelves are held up by rubber rings that circle the pole. I wasn't sure if this was enough support for multiple bottles of shampoos, etc. but it is more than enough support. I load these shelves up and have absolutely no problems at all!
With four teens in the house, my shower looks so much better with this caddy in place. Everyone can have their own shelf with plenty of room for facewash, shampoo, conditioner, shaving cream, a razer, etc. Each shelf can hold approximately six regular size bottles of shampoo or conditioner. Excellent space-saver!!
