I installed the 18" model in an entrance way closet that we use for a few outdoor jackets but mostly for cat litter boxes. The house electrical breaker box is also installed in the far corner. The closet is about 4 ft deep and 6 ft wide. The light is wall mounted above of the doorway a little more than 7 ft above the floor. The brightness is more than adequate but not too bright. We had a 13 Watt Fluorescent Light Bulb that is roughly equivalent to a 60 Watt incandescent bulb and I would judge this light to be a little brighter.

I see some design flaws with this unit. The timeout should be a minimum of two minutes, not 30 seconds, and the sensor should pivot. The plastic lens is quite fragile and difficult to attach. The tabs should have been larger with looser tolerance or simply held on with screws. It's not like you'll ever be replacing bulbs since there aren't any. I broke off part of one of the tabs trying to get the cover attached.

The downward sensitivity was wholly inadequate for my space. If the fixture had been on the ceiling it would have worked fine. Being able to pivot the sensor downward would have solved this problem. We're down on the floor when cleaning the litter boxes. I was able to increase the sensitivity significantly by taping a piece of aluminum foil above the sensor to reflect the IR light. It took several attempts to shape the foil for good sensitivity throughout the closet space. See attached photo for how I attached the foil using Scotch tape. Nothing fancy but no one will be looking up at the light anyway.

The light fixture arrived next day as promised. I was replacing a similar closet light (same length, 24 inches but it was a larger, thicker bulb). The mounting holes lined up perfectly with my old fixture, but since the old unit was larger, the hole for the electric wiring was slightly lower and I had to make some adjustments.

The light is bright enough for the small closet we use it in, and we keep the light always on via the pull chain as we have a switch to control the power. Overall very satisfied.

I was just looking at my cart and it pointed out that these lights had a significant price reduction since I bought them three years ago. So I'm surely planning to buy at least another one. The lights are just right for my small closets. I have four closets that had no lights in before so I decided to use these. There was no room to wire a switch so I opted for the motion detector style and it was a good choice. They were not hard to install and all the lights went in without any real problems aside from crawling around in the attic running new wire, I'm way impressed with the way these lights work, brightness is fine, they easily light up the entire closet. Two of the closets have sliding doors and two of them have hinged doors. In either case the motion sensor picks up the movement when the doors are opened and viola, the lights come on. They've been working great for three years now and I'm very happy with them. I honestly don't know what the bad reviews are about that I've read from other buyers.

The wife wanted a 2' x 2' closet electrified with an outlet and small light fixture to turn on when the closet door was opened. I had the outlet figured out, but had to hunt for this light fixture as could turn on and off automatically (with motion), be bright enough to light the closet nicely, and without being an oversized fixture.
Good pick on my part. I mounted the fixture about 6 1/2' up the interior sidewall... and was able to electrify the light without a concern for an occupancy (on/off) sensor too.
Final outcome? Happy wife. Happy life.

Works perfect for closets.
