After a hiccup the first time around, it works great

I tried to lift one wheel of my 2006 Dodge Charger and as soon as the jack hit resistance, it stopped. And then it wouldn't go back down. I had to get out my floor jack and lift the car so I could release pressure on the electric jack to lower it. Lifting one wheel of this car is well within the 4100-pound capacity of the jack, so I have to assume the jack is defective. I plan to order another one after I return this one, since if it works I think it will be a nice addition to my garage.

EDIT: The second jack arrived today. I plugged it in, and it did lift the Charger, although reluctantly the first time. I then tried it on my '72 Continental Mark IV, a tank of a car. It lifted one wheel of the Mark easier then it did the Charger, so I tried the Charger a second time. This time it was easier. The jack seemed very stable, even at the top of it's lift with the Mark. I think it will be a handy addition to my garage, so I'm going to keep it.

The other negative about the second jack was that all three extra fuses were broken and small pieces of glass were scattered throughout the plastic storage box. Plus, Amazon's packaging is getting downright horrible.

2ND EDIT: I have used this jack for 2 years now, and it has worked flawlessly. One thing I did was to buy this converter:
Max Burton 200W Converter

With the converter, I don't have to have the car running to be able to power the jack. That makes it safer and also seems to give the jack plenty of power. This arrangement has worked so well that I'm getting ready to purchase a second jack so that I can rotate my tires easily.
It works .

Base is very flimsy . I was disappointed . It will lift a small car but otherwise is not a heavy duty item . Fits in plastic case . I am disabled so I purchased one but I think a scissor jack with a impact driver to lift the car would be the best option as long as it had a heavy duty base. When you buy these you need to measure from the ground to the frame rail then see if it will fit . As some vehicle owners have said putting a piece of 4 by 4 and 2 by 4 in the vehicle may help one adapt . I suggest buying a impact driver rated at least twice the power you believe you will need .,

If anyone finds a scissor jack you could put a socket and cordless impact driver too raise and lower too . I would like to purchase one as a better alternative . This won't work on my van though I was able to use it once to lift the car . When the same need happened at home a floor jack was much better . Being disabled I bought a dewalt 1/2 inch impact driver and put it in the trunk with the right size socket for my wheel nuts to remove them . Expensive but it works and is handy to have around the house even if it is stored in the car . I keep a jump pack in their too , air pump and a plug kit too .
4.5" to 13.5" max height

Love the product but could not give it 5 stars because the description said max height lift to 16".
It lifted my 12' Passat with ease, but could not get my 15' explorer wheel off the ground because it
stops at 13.5" fully extended. This is a great product for cars but not suvs. The explorer is 10" to the lift
point. If this went to 16" as described I would of bought one for each vehicle.
Perfect for a car or small SUV!

Just got this delivered today, I had a tire I needed to change so I ordered this to make it a little easier. It did it's job easily plugged into the outlet in the car. Cable was long enough to reach any corner of the car. The jack lifted the car up without any issues. It was a Hyundai Santa Fe, so small SUV. I don't think this would be able to like up a truck or large SUV high enough to change a tire but for a car or small SUV this is perfect! It gets 4 stars because it wouldn't work on a larger vehicle.

I was a little skeptical when I looked at this online at Amazon and I decided that their return policy would protect me in that event. I ordered the jack online and received it right away and it was packaged in another box with some packing paper along with some other ordered items. The plastic case that the Jack came in had a tiny dent in one corner and not easy to see but, I'm picky about quality and craftsmanship, but I won't let the dent bother me. I was well pleased when I took the Jack out of the case and used it for the first time. It is very easy to use and it performs exactly as stated by the manufacturer. It has a + slot at the top the of the jack where the the car body lifting point on some vehicles that have this feature like mine, fits in the slot. Just use care and get it in there properly, it is a safety feature and very thoughtful. It has a little light on the contol switch but it is not very bright however, it will let you see around the jack as you are using it. Better than no flashlight if you did not have one or one that was not working. This little electric jack raised my car up in about 1 to 2 minutes with it plugged in right from the cigarette lighter with no problem. For a disabled person, it is a great tool to have in your car if you ever need to change a tire especially at night. I am very impressed and pleased with this Pilot 12 Volt Jack.
