I use this lead to mark measurements on soft wood like 2X4s and plywood. Pentel Super Hi-Polymer Lead Refills are so hard they scribe the wood and barely leave a grey line. This BIC lead is closer to a #2 pencil and works great.

.9 is so strong and doesn't get wasted nonstop because of breaks like others that are thinner and more brittle. My son is hard on pencils with all of his 7th grade homework and he will only use this lead as well. Make sure you have .9 pencils to go with it!
