Gear shaft broke 5 rows in
Kimberly✓ Verified PurchaseAugust 18, 2023
The machine works great, but the gear shaft snapped 5 rows in. I could have returned for a replacement but I didn't want to wait, so I fixed it with some steel reinforced epoxy and ordered a replacement upgraded gear from Etsy since I had already planned on upgrading the gear.
Other then having to fix the gear it works great, and very smoothly. I am almost half way through making a twin sized blanket.

I liked the product to make hats and scarves. I disliked that the row counter doesn't work properly

I had bought this to use up a yarn stash I am making hats for charity and gifts. I was disappointed as the knitting machine was not shipped in the original box but it was packaged welll in a double box and arrived with no damage. While I was waiting for my knitting machine to arrive I watched a bunch in videos and I feel that really helped. I made 3 hats the first evening with not too much trouble. There is a learning curve but I think I will really enjoy this knitting machine.
Ongoing Saga ADDI SOLD BY GM COM - NO REPLACEMENTS ONLY REFUNDS (Edited) CUSTOMER SERVICE - READ ON

(See edit below this comment, prior to the helpful follow-up)
Company GM COM "“ no replacement option. A small replacement part needed, in the handle AFTER 11 DAYS; the crank shaft for the screw to hold it on fell off while running smoothly. Why: *For not backing up their product and not communicating with me*, I have decided to return this entire expensive knitting machine, even though I cannot re-purchase it for the sale price I originally bought it for now. It is only a small part I requested a replacement for, not the entire machine. Frustrating.

Edit
Ongoing Saga: First, thanks to the Amazon personnel! They are STELLAR in this matter!

Janis at GM COM (company seller of the Addi knitting machine through Amazon) sent an email out at about 1AM this morning. I had already begun the process of return the day before, getting the shipping label lined up.
Janis offered me compensation of a nominal amount of a refund instead of the entire return since this company does not offer parts. It is not the ADDI company, I presume. I will take this amount that was refunded to my card and pay someone to 3D the part.

Since repurchasing this Addi knitting machine was not possible at the sale price any longer and has gone back up following the holidays, I was going to purchase and hope for the best of a Sentro knitting machine, since it appears on YouTube frequently in many DIY tutorials along with Addi. Several people seem to like it okay.

However, now that I have finally been contacted with this new choice to make to: either proceed with the return and try out the other option knitting machine (Sentro), or to halt all gears and let Amazon know I would take the compensatory refund for the part I need. I thought what a can of worms! (Ended up, it really wasn't.)
My husband pointed out to me that I purchased this machine since it was the leader in its industry, so I decided to get a replacement part for the cracked shaft by getting a 3D part printed with the refund and keep the Addi knitting machine. I told Janis at the GM COM company, in my reply, that I would edit my review once the refund was completed.
Minutes later in chat with an Amazon personnel, I was told it was refunded and would show up in 3-5 business days on my card. EZ PZ!
So, next step, I am taking this Addi machine apart as demonstrated on a YouTube video, a couple who disassembled it completely and put shims in the hand crank area to get rid of eventual rocking of the handle which operates the gears (so the gears would not grind off by rocking back and forth), plus the other part of the crank. Look it up on YouTube. I am going to take it apart primarily to inspect all the parts while I still have the option to return it in case I find anymore "situations" of cracking in the plastic construction. I think it is probably going to be fine, but this sure hasn't turned out faster than hand knitting. I could have gotten my project done by now --haha. I just call this a learning curve experience, hopefully with a continued good outcome. Otherwise, life would get boring.
Last note, it means a lot when customer service backs up the name "customer service" with a smile. Actions do speak louder than words. Thank you for your help Janis, at GM COM, seller of my Addi knitting machine, through Amazon. It made all the difference that you responded positively.
Best knitting machine!

I purchased this Addie machine a few month after I bought the sentro. This works SOOO much better than the sentro knitting machine. This machine does have as many tucked stitches (certain yarn worked better than others). Very easy to put together and overall my items turned out awesome!
