Not for the dainty flower
R Smith✓ Verified Purchase•July 15, 2017
After getting used to my other foam roller, I decided to try this out. I've had it only for a few days, but man alive does this thing break up the knots in your back, hips, glutes, shoulders, legs, etc. Yes, it's pretty hard foam, so if you're a dainty flower, this is probably not for you.
If you like deep tissue massages, then this will feel normal.
At the end of the day though, this thing will make your muscles feel better, it's a matter of how high your pain tolerance is, though.

All pain, all gain...

It's a great piece of kit, don't be fooled it's both good for you and quite hard going the first time you use it. They say no pain no gain and this roller is a great example of such.
Was packaged well, comes with some simple exercises to make you scream in agony (kidding...) find muscles you never knew existed or were sore and generally keep you in good condition.
All kidding aside, its the real deal, not a cheap imitation. These are great tools for muscle relief, just don't go overboard on the first few times you use them as they do take a bit of getting used to and you need them to soften up a bit.

One of four great rollers that I own
R. Tanaka✓ Verified Purchase•December 17, 2015
This is one of four foam rollers I bought. I have the black Rumble Roller extra firm, NewCell Integrate Foam Roller, and Trigger Point Therapy both the orange and black x-tra firm. I don't own but have also tried the blue Rumble Roller at my fitness center. This review is a comparison of these various rollers.
Each of my four rollers has its own purpose. The Rumble Rollers are really good for deep tissue at a single spot. The black extra firm Rumble Roller is really hard and aggressive, while the blue one is softer but because of how "pointy" the roller is, the blue Rumble Roller doesn't feel much softer when I'm actually using it. In comparison the Trigger Point Therapy is much better as an all purpose roller to roll out the fascia. With the Trigger Point Therapy rollers, the black extra firm has very little give while the orange one is noticeably soft....and that orange one is my least favorite and least used roller, but I bought it since it was an Amazon Lightning Deal and I read in a fitness magazine that deemed the softer rollers more effective because the muscles don't tense up as with the firmer rollers. This is definitely true since it's the only roller I can handle when my IT band and other parts of my legs get really tender. My final roller is the NewCell foam roller which is a cross between all the other three I have and is the best for rolling out my back due to its shape, but I can also use it to target certain spots though not as effective as the Rumble Rollers.
These various rollers have all helped to address a lot of tension and tightness in my shoulders, back, hips, and legs. I started using them at my fitness center and as I realized how beneficial they were, I bought and added each one by one. Considering that I no longer need to pay a therapist to massage and how I can run with less pain, the money I spent seems well worth it. Most importantly, it wasn't until I began using these rollers regularly that I finally resolved my plantar fasciitis I had in both feet for several years.
Just to be clear though, if you like deep tissue massage, this is a great roller. If you can't handle deep tissue massage, you will hate this roller

one of the best investments I've made to improve my health in a ...

Man...one of the best investments I've made to improve my health in a long time! This roller, just after 1-2 minutes completely works out my shoulder/neck pain!!! Because of its shorter length and the fact that its the black (firmest version), I can (while standing with my back to he wall), place the roller vertically in between the shoulder blades and roll side to side; using my body weight to control the pressure much more easily/subtly and find that spot and work that knot right out. And again, this action removes the knot in less than 2 minutes! Instantly, the upper back/shoulder pain is gone and the neck tension is greatly relaxed; thus reducing my tension headaches from the tensed up shoulder area.
I have to admit, I've become addicted to that sensation of that dull ache from finding knotted area and kneading it out, then the release of endorphins once the knot and the tension is released...LOL
I HIGHLY recommend this brand of roller and the kneading fingers are spaced better than all other rollers and come in varying firmness. For most guys or anyone with large muscles, go with the black (extra firm) roller. It may be uncomfortable for less muscular individuals. These fingers on this roller kneads DEEPLY!

Great for aggravating and inflaming trigger points
Jason✓ Verified Purchase•June 22, 2015
Admittedly this product sounded brilliant. I'm loaded with trigger points and found a traditional foam roller too soft to be of much use. This thing is worse though. I'm no baby when it comes to trigger point treatment. I routinely use a lacrosse ball and find those helpful. The RumberRoller, however, is a different story. The nubs on the device jab into you and it feels kind of good in a masochistic kind of way. However, you can't really release a trigger point with this because it's just about impossible to apply consistent pressure over a trigger point because of all the little nubs.
It didn't bruise me or cause any kind of pain as some other reviewers have stated but it was useless for releasing trigger points and worse it seemed to aggravate them because of the inconsistent pressure this thing applies. It's basically an overpriced hard piece of foam with some nubs.
