PERFECT!! Great Product & Amazing Customer Service
Anthony L.✓ Verified PurchaseJanuary 26, 2024
So, I received an e-mail sometime after my purchase to rate this product. And I ALWAYS check out reviews on Amazon before purchasing anything, and It only takes a moment of my time to write a review, so I really don't mind helping others, and showing my gratitute for a great product, so I wrote this review (Because there are lots of bad products out there!!!)

First, let me say I've been using this scale for over a year, and this is a great scale. It digitally displays your weight, which is very easy to read. The numbers displayed are bright and large, which is easy to read when you do not have a light on. I've used this product to track my weight, and in the process I've lost 30 pounds. It is a great tool to accompany diet and exercise. It helps to give you an idea of your muscle percentage and body fat percentage by using an algorithm in combination with your current weight and the speed of how fast an electric pulse moves through your body (you don't feel a thing!). This is great, because you know if you need to lift more/add more wights to your workouts or do less cardio in order to maintain/increase muscle. It is also great that you can see your body fat percentage, so you know if you should increase cardio, or increase high interval cardio. I love the fact that the scale tells me my body fat percentage and muscle mass percentage, and is very accurate. No scale is perfectly accurate, necause you need a blood test for perfect accuracy, but this scale is very, very accurate.

I tired two or three scales and I like this one the best, It is the most accurate and consistant (when used on a flat surafce, such as a hardwood floor or bathroom floor.)It is very easy to use, and is at a great price!

After about two years my scale stopped working, it wouldn't read my weight. I was angry and voiced my complaint to customer service. Within an hour, the president of the company (William) personally reached out to with a phone call, and FedEx'd me a new scale. I love that he puts the customer first. Great Company!

As for the people who gave this product a low rating, I do not think they calibrated the scale correctly lol, it is simple to do, the instructions come with the scale. All you do to calibrate the scale, it put it on a flat surface, then step on it, then step off, and then after the back light comes off, the scale is calibrated. I think if they followed these easy steps and calibrated the scale, the scale would work the way it was made to, and they would of gave it a 5 star.

I am glad to write this review because the product is great, and the customer service is fantastic. I will recommend this to all my friends, family, and people at the gym! Thanks Will!

Bottom Line: I would greatly Reccomend. I give this product 5 stars for it's accuracy and consistancy, and would give an additional 5 starts for customer service if I could.
High Quality Precision; Excellent Product

Update: Before you read the below review, I am updating it with my observations after 2.5 years of use. I just retired this scale in favor of a physicians beam style scale*. I will be keeping the EatSmart nearby to keep an eye on my bodyfat levels/hydration from time to time, but over the months I began to notice a lot of issues with the scale's accuracy and repeatability. Specifically, the scale would begin to give lighter and lighter readings over time (which seemed "correct" because I was "dieting", right?? Not so much.) A calibration or change of batteries would always result in a 5 to 7lb uptick in weights measured. When I checked these changes with other scales, I found the uptick to always be accurate. Therefore, I stopped trusting the scale's accuracy on a day-to-day basis unless it had been very recently recalibrated. Overall, it just seemed too unreliable for the type of finely tuned weight tracking I need to do to keep my body the way I like it. I am downgrading my review to 4 stars due to this nuisance.

This is by FAR the best scale I have ever owned. My husband an I are both avid fitness enthusiasts and our weights do not fluctuate very much, but we both like to keep a strict eye on our statistics and it is therefore very important to us to have a scale that is precise and consistent. Having a scale that fluctuates by even as little as a half a pound with only a few seconds between measurements is of no value to us, yet this seems to be the case with so many products out there. Not so with the EatSmart Precision GetFit scale. This scale is very precise. I can step on it numerous times and the reading is the same. Then if I put on an article of clothing and step back on, it will register an additional .2 or .4 (or what have you) pounds reflecting that I'm now "heavier". Therefore, I know that this scale doesn't just "remember" my first weight and duplicate it like so many others. If you need a PRECISE instrument to measure your weight, this is it.

With regards to the numerous complaints/observations over the body fat %, muscle mass and water weight functions of this scale, I would say the following:

-The ONLY way to get a truly accurate measure of your body fat % is with DEXA scan or Hydrostatic test. Caliper/skin fold tests have a high likelihood for inaccuracy because there are many factors come into play such as your body's own fat storage patterns vs. the formula used vs. the chosen pinch sites as well as the skill level of the person administering the test. BIA is also notoriously unreliable due (again) to fat storage patterns and the means of administration of the electrical current. For instance, hand held devices tend to more accurately read your upper body while scales you stand on tend to favor your lower body. Therefore, the many comparisons of the "accuracy" of the EatSmart GetFit product with the accuracy of other completely different methods, simply aren't valid. If you are looking for a BIA means of testing body fat % you need to understand that you will get a TRENDING TOOL only. As trending tools go, when you follow the directions set forth in the manual, I have observed this device to be very consistent from day to day.

-The "athlete" mode means just that...ATHLETE. Like others have pointed out, even if you are a regular fitness buff, use the normal mode. As an example and means of comparison I can tell you that I am a 40 year old female who does 5 to 8 hours of cardio/week and 7 to 10 hours of weight training/week. I am 5'5" tall, have visible muscle definition throughout my body, but I am not "shredded". I weigh 116lbs. The "athlete" mode reads me at 12.5%. The normal mode reads me at 17.3%. I believe in actuality I am somewhere around 19% to 20%. So, as others have observed, this scale reads about +/-2 or 3% low. I also store most of my extra fat in my torso and upper arms, which could be the reason that it is low for me and also for the many male reviewers who found the same thing. I believe the advice that some have received from the customer service staff to trick the machine by setting your height lower is an excellent solution for this "problem". For me, I prefer the ego stroke of leaving it as is and feeling GREAT about my "sub 20%" body fat level. :) End of the day, the device provides consistent readings so I can tell if I'm making any progress over long periods of time.

-As it compares to other BIA scales I have owned (and I have tried several), this one is the closest to what I believe to be reality and provides the most consistent readings. Just remember to always take such information you receive from a silly bathroom scale that you paid $50 for with a few healthy grains of salt. The technology simply doesn't exist for perfectly accurate reading at this price point and level of convenience.

As others have noted, this scale isn't as convenient if you are the type of person who puts your scale away every day for you will have to recalibrate it whenever you move it. Leave the scale in the same place permanently and you are golden. The scale is very well made and substantial. Also, expect to see fluctuations in both weight and muscle mass/hydration levels if you weigh yourself multiple times a day. The food you eat, the fluids you drink and your daily activity level all effect your weight and body composition. It is unreasonable to think otherwise and expect a scale to spit out the exact same statistics at you throughout the day.

As with most electronic devices, it can be very hard to control for quality at the point of manufacture and it looks like this product is no different judging from the amount of "lemon" reviews. But the willingness to and interest in rectifying those unfortunate situations by EatSmart staff seems to be what sets this company and its products apart and that was the reason I was willing to give this scale a try. Luckily for me, I received a beautiful product that worked perfectly right out of the box. I highly recommend this product. And if you do get a "lemon", I wouldn't hesitate to have it replaced and hope for the best. The odds seem pretty low that you would get two defective scales in a row.
Amazing scale

I have been looking for a new scale for a long time, our current scale just was not doing it anymore, it was a analog scale. We have had electronic scales before but never was happy with the reliability of them. Plus I hated I had to press the scale, wait a few seconds for it to turn on and reset then step on the scale. Not with this one though! . I was searching scales on Amazon and came across the EatSmart scales. I thought they were nice looking scales with very good reviews, I saw this one that measures body fat ( and more I later found out ) and since I am starting a diet, I wanted a scale that can do this.

I just got the scale last night, so this is just my first impressions, and will update my review later.

First thing I noticed when I took it out of the box was the photos on Amazon do not do this scale justice. Its the most beautiful scale that I have ever seen. The design and build quality are amazing. At first I saw a round hole in the bottom and I did not know what it was for until I picked it up from the bottom and realized that was there to put your thumb in to make the scale easy to carry. The fit and finish on the scale is exceptional.

I put the batteries in and then I noticed that the buttons on the top, were not separate buttons, but touch sensitive buttons through the glass, so there is no way for the buttons to get dirty, and make for it to be easy to keep the scale clean. I put the scale down and it auto calibrated. I entered my data and my wife's data and told the scale that I was on it the first time so it would know who I was, and now it auto recognizes me like it states and gives me my readings. I step on the scale, it shows my weight, wait 3 seconds and then it does the body fat scans...

I love the instant step on. Step on the scale, and it gives you your weight, no extra steps required as with normal electronic scales.

What I love about the scale,
I love how the scale not only measures your body fat, but it also measures your total body water, muscle mass and bone mass.
I love that you can just step on it and get your readings.
I love the auto recognition feature
I love the design, down to the thumb hole on the bottom to make it easy to carry.

What I don't love about the scale...
Cant think of anything that I do not like about the scale.

The last thing I will say which really made me buy this scale, was not just the positive reviews, but also the negative reviews. The negatives reviews made me think wow, I need to get this scale, and why would that be? Customer service! I am blown away at how people would post negative reviews then update them and say guess what, within hours of posting my negative review I got an email from the President or VP of the company apologizing for the problems and working with the customer directly to resolve any issues and ensure they got working scales and the customers are happy. And you know what? I would say 90-95% of the people who started off writing negative reviews changed the reviews from negatives to positive reviews because of the help or replacement scales they got from Eat Smart.

Its not often that you come around a company that is that pro-active and that is this gung-ho about helping their customers and doing what needs to be done to make the customer a happy customer.

So if your looking for a great scale, read the reviews and how great the customer service is. I do see some new low reviews, and don't know if the company has reached out to these people or not, but one thing I do not see in a lot of this new negative reviews is if they contacted EatSmart for support. I bet you if they had, EatSmart would have helped them resolve the issue instead of just sending the scale back.

Again, I have only had this scale for a day, and this is just my initial observations of the scale and I will update my review later.

But I say if your looking for a great scale, look no further. This is the one!
Pretty Scale. Didn't Function Particular Well for Me (at first)

I purchased this scale & we couldn't get it to do anything other than display the weight. It requires calibration so we went through those steps at least 7 times. Tried various surfaces, still only displayed weight. Finally, after several days, it finally began to show metrics (fat, muscle, water). A couple of days passed, and it stopped showing the metrics & went back to just weight. I emailed the company (because Amazon wouldn't let me rate it as a 1 without trying to talk it over with them). One of their VP's got back to me same day (even though it was a weekend). At first, he said suggested it was 'user error.' Um....no. Finally, we got aligned and he sent me a new scale. He had even sent me his number and invited me to call him over the weekend so he could walk through any problems & troubleshoot with me.

A colleague of mine tried the new scale first. It showed weight, no metrics. A 2nd or 3rd attempt finally revealed full metrics. He was ecstatic. Said it was the best scale ever, fully worth the price. Sleek & stylish as well as informative. A little disheartened after everything i'd been through to resolve this, i didn't try the scale until several hours later. Yep, no metrics, just weight. Tried it several times, same thing. I tried making sure my bare feet were extra dry. I tried being incredibly still. Nothing. Finally, it began showing metrics. What was interesting was that the old scale's metrics were substantially different from the new metrics. We're talking 5-7% point difference in the fat content and the muscle content. And now the new scale has stopped giving metrics and has just gone back to giving me weight. Plus, if i step off and step back on in a few seconds, the weight will read completely different.

Since i had a regular $20 scale that showed me weight, paying $60 for this scale to do the same (and not even accurately) is a waste of money. In summary, it's sleek looking. I like the 'just step on it' technology so you don't have to touch it and wait for it to show 0 before you step back on and weigh yourself. I like the concept that it would tell me all this information about my health. I even think the instructions are clearly written. But the product just didn't deliver from a quality perspective for me. I expected it to provide me with reasonably solid metrics. Instead, it just tells me my weight and shuts off. I give them great points for their commitment to customer service. They clearly WANT the product to do well and WANT consumers to have a great experience with the product. So i'd say if you give it a try, just know they'll back their product if it doesn't work.

UPDATE: I have been using this scale for the past several weeks and whatever 'bugs' originally plagued this darn thing seem to have been eradicated. It is now consistently delivering both weight and metrics. I'd like to move my rating from a 3 star to a 3.5 star (just because i had so much trouble with it and i still want that reflected). Since Amazon doesn't let me give half stars, i'm moving the rating to a 4.0.
Best scale I've ever owned
cfeied✓ Verified PurchaseDecember 17, 2023
This is the best scale I've ever owned (and I have more than one scale at more than one home).

I've tried a number of multifunction (body composition) scales in the past and have not liked any of them. There was always too much fuss, too many functions to keep track of, and too much frustration for us to keep using them. Recently I decided to try again because I'm right at the point where weight alone doesn't tell me what I want to know.

I read pretty much every review of every body fat scale on Amazon and also on a number of external websites. This ("EatSmart Precision GetFit") was the only scale for which the overwhelmingly positive reviews were all for the right reasons. The few negative reviews were either for things I don't care about, or they obviously did not really reflect the product.

I ordered the scale and it arrived immediately in perfect condition. I installed the battery and stepped on the scale, and it weighed exactly what I weigh on a calibrated medical scale. I moved the scale around to different areas of the house, and it always gave exactly the same reading. This is in contrast to a plain old OMRON scale that I also like, but that can vary up to half a pound if I find the "sweet spot" on the floor where I weigh the least. You can't fool the EatSmart scale that easily :)

I braced myself for the effort of creating a new user and putting in the data that will let it show body composition -- and then I felt silly when it only took a few seconds and was super-easy, and never needs to be repeated.

I do not have a gold-standard body composition measurement with which to compare the body composition readings I got from this scale. All I can say is that they are well within the range I believe is correct, and they are highly consistent from day to day. Since I just want to track a reduction in body fat while maintaining my weight and adding muscle mass, I don't really care how accurate it is in comparison to an external standard -- I only care whether it accurately tracks changes over time. I've only been using it for a few weeks, but other reviewers who've used it for a period of time say that it does well in that role.

You generally don't need to zero this scale before using it: if you don't move the scale around, it will always stay zeroed and you can just step on it to get an immediate reading. If you do need to move the scale around, the manufacturer recommend that you tap the scale with your foot to wake it up, then wait a moment for the scale to read zero (recalibrating itself) before weighing yourself. I tried moving the scale around, and so long as I kept it on a flat surface of similar hardness there was actually no need to recalibrate it, because the readings stayed the same all through my home. The only time I needed to recalibrate was when I put it on an uneven surface. Even then, the zeroing function is noticeably faster than on other scales I've owned (and those other scales required that I do it every time).

If there are two people using the scale, it will automatically recognize which is which so long as their weight is more than a few pounds apart. If you and your spouse weigh the same amount but have a different gender or level of athleticism, it will work normally for your weight, but you will always have to choose which person is on the scale in order to see the correct body composition readings. I can't imagine that this is a real problem for very many people, but if it describes your situation then I have a simple solution: order two of these scales and you'll be twice as happy :)

I like this scale. What more can I say?
