The hype is real. The blade slips right through.

After gashing my index finger open in a dull bread knife incident, I went shopping. There are a ton of good cheap options on Amazon, but ultimately I decided on this Tojiro because I like that it's made in Japan, doesn't look like something you'd see behind the counter at a Subway, and it gets pretty solid reviews online.
I just sliced through a fresh, crusty loaf of homemade no-knead bread and there was zero shredding, sawing, hacking, or unsafe amounts of pressure I had to use to force the blade through. Just a clean slip through the crust, a few small strokes back and forth, and the bread popped open like an Easter egg.

Dang this knife is SHARP and slices right through bread (and misplaced fingers.) With our old bread knife you'd be trying to cut the bread and the bread loaf would be wiggling back and forth until the knife dug into the loaf. This knife just starts slicing and is long and sturdy enough to handle Panasonic Breadmaker loafs with ease.

This knife is Sharp!! Great for breads. Nice long blade. I used it for butterflying tenderloins, and shrimpz. Worked nice. Could have used a better grip when I started to cut steaks off a full ribeye. I realize I'm not using quite as intended; it is labled a bread slicer after all, but I like a multi use tool. And I think I found one in this knife. Would buy again.

i wanted a long bladed bread knife. Read a bunch of reviews at knife sites and tried this. It is a great bread knife. One pull through the loaf yields a slice of bread. No sawing, fewer crumbs, nice piece of bread. OK, I'm a knife nut and prefer hand made Japanese knives and while this is machine made it is an exceptional cutter.

Bout this for my Chef Sister for Christmas and she says It's the best bread knife she's ever used In her life. Slices like butter.
Also sells out on Amazon regularly so It must be great. IMO Japanese Steel s the best n the world. They've been making swords for over a thousand years In Seki City Japan.
