Not a Cutter Just a Paper Roll Holder
Kathy In New MexicoJune 4, 2017
Doesn't have a cutting blade. I bought it for a roll of plastic wrap and it won't work for that purpose. It says cutter so you would expect it would have a blade not just a straight metal edge
Once it is open, how do you close it?
V. GlynnMarch 1, 2017
Pro: Works as stated.
Con: no directions on how to close the unit
For those who want to use the cutter on a part-time basis, this works for the Bulman a1, a2 & A3 series:
To close the device: 1. Find the pinhole on the unit's side below the pivot head. Push in the pin with a small blunt object until the pin clears the hole and the legs will close.
Alternately, push the side of the inner leg of the crossbar until the pin head clears the pinhole and the crossbars will close.
Repeat on the other side if needed.
Hope this helps.
Excellent Product!!!

This product is very well made and works great with both heavy kraft paper and thin gift wrap. I've seen some negative comments about this product, especially with gift wrap. These people obviously don't know how to tear paper with a paper cutter of the type on this dispenser. I have nothing but good things to say about this product. I have not used this product mounted on a wall, but on a table top, the performance is flawless. I would definitely buy again.
Poor directions!
Amazon LoverMay 20, 2016
Poor directions!! If you're a first time user, the instructions are pathetic. There should be clear diagrams indicating what your are to press to unlock and collapse cutter after use. Very aggravating. No diagram indicating what part actually does the cutting. To some it may be common sense, but if you're a first time user the directions are not at all helpful and you can hurt your finger trying to pull apart or pressing different spots trying to get cutter to collapse flat again to put in box
Ok, but not the best for gift wrap

An ok product. I didn't notice (and this isn't the product's fault, I'm just pointing it out for future users...) that many rolls of wrapping paper are wider than 36" So, if you're using this for gift wrap like you see at those charity gift wrapping booths at the mall, make a note of the size of your gift wrap rolls. We had a few that were 36" but most of ours were larger. Anyway, this isn't exactly easy to use. Unless you have very large (as in a ton of it on the roll) rolls of gift wrap, the cutter won't come anywhere near the "blade." We had rolls of wrapping paper that were 36" wide and only had 50-100 sq ft of paper on them. Its really hard to use this cutter for those--it can be done. You need to hold the roll of paper up against the cutter, being careful not to move it or your paper will rip. Also, the blade is not sharp at all. As a result, you have to really practice or you'll just rip the wrapping paper. I think these are made more for butcher shop heavy brown type paper, or heavy craft construction paper. These papers won't rip easily and thus would work great with this cutter. Cheap rolls of gift wrap are very thin and are somewhat challenging to cut with this cutter. I've contemplated taking a grinder to the blade to try to sharpen it up a bit...but I'm worried that I could ruin it vs. make it easier to use with thinner paper.
