but the engagement is terrible so I bought the Mit

Doesn't fit the 6" AOS caliper (probably most popular Mit. caliper). There is quite a lot of leftover space, 5mm at least, which I think may be needed to clear the screw at the end of the caliper. While the thumbscrew does hold the caliper securely, you wonder if you really got it on square and securely.
To compare products, the iGaging depth base attachment fits the iGaging 6" calipers absolutely perfectly.
The iGaging depth attachment is smaller but still bit larger than the Mit. AOS 6" caliper so in theory it should fit, but the engagement is terrible so I bought the Mit. base thinking the fitment would be spot-on. Oh well.

Quality of this depth base is top notch, expected nothing less out of Mitutoyo. It does have some weight to it so will take some time to get used too. Overall great buy at a decent price
