The Dexter-Russell 10" Bread knife works like a charm. My last bread knife could barely make it through the tough crusts of many of my homemade breads, but the Dexter handles them without complaint. I'm very happy with the purchase because it's a quality knife at a low price. Keep in mind that since the metal is carbon steel, you must make sure to dry it thoroughly after you clean it. Carbon steel is an excellent cooking material, but it can benefit from some (minimal) care.

Wicked sharp, easy to use and a good price. Your cutting board might be the weak link here... I know mine still shows the wounds from the encounter. Next time I know to use less pressure - this knife means business!

Nice enough bread knife. I like the nylon handle. It could be a little thicker, for it does flex a bit when cutting artisan breads with a thicker crumb.

I've had very few challenging breads with this knife. It tends to do best with medium hard crust and tight crumb breads - so the majority of most people's breads. The challenges I've had with are wet-crumb breads and heavily-pocketed loose crumb bread. The slight bit of pressure you need to start can cause the loaf to collapse - and it's not very anti-sticky. These are fairly rare occurances though - and mostly signs of poorly made bread. It also is really good for vegtables like peppers and tomatoes.
This being said, it's a very industrial looking knife. If you desire something slightly more good looking (and slightly more capable) I would suggest the Tojiro 235mm F-737.
