These "slip-on" style boots require more effort to put on than mountaineering boots with laces. The heel material extends way too high above the finger loop, and curves forward over the opening. The result is a crushed heel portion every time you put your foot in. The finger loops on front and back are far too small to fit a finger into, making them useless. Once they're on every step feels like you're treading through mud, as the boot feels like it's suctioned to the ground as you raise your foot. And the size seems to run small (my big toes were crushed).
Not quite what I was hoping for.

[update 10/3/2017:] All the material wore off the padding behind my achilles tendon shortly after I started wearing these daily. The toe section stretched out pretty quickly making them go from too small to too big but unfortunately the toe blew out soon after rendering these no longer waterproof and not really worth the trouble to try to repair. Based on my experience these might be ok if your use for them is only occasional but they only lasted two or three months for me wearing them daily and were never that comfortable. Dropping to two stars and hoping the next shoe I order is better than these.

[original review:]The fit is strange. My heel slides up and down and I think I will get a blister where my tendon rubs but at the same time my toes are jammed together and mashed against the front. I am hoping they stretch out because I waited too long before ordering so I really need something to wear. I usually order 11.5 in shoes which is usually loose enough to reduce premature failure. In these I ordered a 12 and still they feel so tight I am afraid they will blow out prematurely. I left an extra star up only so I have room to downgrade. I was hoping to find a shoe that had enough boot like characteristics to tromp through the snow, mud, and rain and still look like a shoe when I go inside but what I ended up with was an ill fitting boot that has enough shoe like characteristics that my ankles get cold and wet and snow can get in. When I get inside they still look like I am wearing boots poking out from under my pant legs.
You May Get Use To Them, Good Winter Wear.

My shoe size is usually 12 to 12.5, with these I should have ordered twelve and a half.
I had the option of returning them because the slip ons were slightly small. Yet a storm was approaching and I definitely needed winter shoes at the moment.
The shoes offer great protection and are made well for duration. The style is a bit bunky for me, it is not perfect for daily casual wear. My feet took some while to become more accustomed to the easy to slip on footwear.
Great for what they are & the price; NOT for everyday outdoor work.

I'm a big guy & on my feet all day and I usually prefer a wide shoe. That said, I bought these after shopping locally and online for traditional 'duck' boots/shoes and not seeing anything that interested me, or, the price was ridiculously high for what will be 'part-time' shoes. I couldn't be happier. The fit, the construction, the traction all surprisingly exceed the expectation given its price point. I have a pair of Merrell's that I tramp around in that cost twice as much and are only half as comfortable.
These handle the Vermont winter weather just fine.
As always, YMMV.
(No, I DO NOT recommend these for an everyday, outdoor work/muck shoe - no designed for that anyway - but for running an errand, checking mail, casual wear, etc., in the winter, you can't beat these).
Tried, but could not make them work for me

I tried really hard to make these work. I took other reviewers' advice and ordered a size 12 (I usually wear 10.5 or 11). This was the right size - smaller shoes would not have fit. As others have mentioned, though, the fit is unusual. The shoes were a little tight on the front of my foot and in the toes. However, they still slid on and off when I walked. They also came pretty high up my heel, and rubbed there. I went on a short walk with them, and they rubbed a blister on my heel. They were very uncomfortable, but I really wanted them to work. I wore them for short amounts of time for the week to try to break them in. However, they never got any better. They just wouldn't work for me. Amazon allowed me to return them though I had worn them. I just received my Merrell Polarands Merrell Men's Polarand Rove Moc Waterproof Winter Slip-On Shoe,Black Slate,11 M US which cost more, but were more comfortable right out of the box. My photos show a comparison of the Merrell and Northside. You can see that the Northsides are taller, which would be good if they were comfortable.
I really wanted these to work due to the price. They also seemed warm and waterproof, and come up high enough on the foot to stay dry in soggy conditions. They were simply unwearable for me. Due to the value, they may be worth a try for you.
