The bag that goes anywhere, and easily deploys and stows my Surface Pro 2, amongst other utilities
Renigami✓ Verified Purchase•October 19, 2023
This bag compared to other classic "military" style messenger bags has something that I think is above the others I have seen.
Namely the main and adequately roomy compartment is zippered, along with the two sub font pockets, that is hidden behind the main cover flap. Two pockets at the end, can easily house one's pens, either on the pocket sides themselves or even better, in the loop with the metal snap fastener to keep the pockets secure. In addition, the side pockets are roomy enough to even house a coffee thermos mug.
And for the great benefit to me upon using this bag, the rear pocket that sits in between the wearer and the bag, is the rear, single Velcro patched fastened, pocket, that fits a Surface Pro / Surface Pro 2 with type cover attached and a small USB receiver in the USB port, with a bit of slack to take out (and put back in with some ease) while wearing the bag. This makes it very nice to quickly deploy that great laptop/tablet/replacement/combo to quickly get things done, or view things. Just be sure to have the soft, felt side of the type/touch cover facing the hook side of the Velcro, or the hook side may scratch the stowed Surface Pro's chassis.
And for good measure, the side pocket's metal snap fastener loop is strong enough in stitching to hold a carabiner which I hooked a 1L full water bottle to at times.
Also another mention, is the interior, zippered pocket inside the main compartment - meant for small trinkets that can be accessed without searching the entire main compartment. That is a simple pocket that is embedded in between the nylon liner and the rear canvas part of the bag. This for me is reserved for USB adapters, cards, and cords, but I imagine others would dedicate this pocket to one's choosing.
All the while, remains good to carry on the shoulders, due to the width of the strap, and perfectly meant for light loads (my load-out comes around 12-14 pounds typically).
I have been using this bag for over 7 months. Holds up for now. Some wear with one of the sub front pocket's zipper coming loose (that is purely my fault in slightly exceeding volume capacity) and wear on the side, metal snap fastened, pockets in one of the stitching thread layers wearing, but still holds. Some slight staining from the strap's buckle adjustment.
One other mention that is a dominant reason for choosing this bag is that since the main flap of the messenger bag is pretty much bare. This means since there is no design or decals, one can customize this bag with sewn on embroidery patches to look the way one wants them, either permanently sewed on, or add velcro attachments for such patches (but I wouldn't use that method for potential loss of patches).

Used this bag for about 10 years

I carried this bag back and forth to work for about 10 years, every day. I just bought a second one since after that long obviously there's some frills and holes...but this is the best bag i've ever owned. It is durable, but there's nothing in it to make it stuff, its a cloth canvas bag. So keep that in mind. Fits my laptop with a 17" screen and now I carry my tablet and other stuff in it. Strap is nice and long also.
This bag is exactly what I was looking for

I used to use a backpack on my daily bicycle commute to work; unfortunately I was struck by an impatient mom in a minivan. One fractured humerus and elbow later my physical therapist informed me that I could not wear a backpack until I had progressed further in my recovery. I asked him if I could use a messenger bag for my new commute by bus, he said yes.
So my search began for a suitable replacement. One of the reasons that I love Amazon is the REVIEWS. Since I am now crippled and did not feel like going to the mall I logged into my account and started reading. The Rapiddominance Classic Military Messenger Bags, Khaki had the best reviews so I went ahead and ordered it. It is sort of an unknown when ordering something online but the reviewers gave consistently good reviews and Amazon has a great return policy so I had nothing to lose.
I received the bag on time. Once I opened up the box I knew I had made a good purchase. The bag is lightweight compared to leather and it is very well constructed. I chose khaki because I feel like it is more stylish than black and black would fade. Khaki will show dirt more readily but a quick trip through the washer should restore the bag to like new appearance.
The main compartment is roomy enough for my Pyrex glass container for my lunch to heat up at chowtime. Next to it I loaded it with 2 small clear plastic organizers for my daily doodads. Finally there is room for my Acer 8" Windows Tablet
[purchased from Amazon :) ] It is lined with polyester and has a zippered compartment for documents.
The bag has 2 front zippered compartments that catch the rest of my daily necessities such as USB hard drive, AC adapters, my wallet so no one can pinch it out of my back pocket while on the bus, snacks, etc.
The large front flap covers both compartments for added security plus it makes the bag look sleek and stylish. This is secured by Velcro and has 2 pull loops on the outside to break loose the Velcro.
On either end are 2 compartments for water bottles. I use only one for my stainless steel water bottle.
There is a large compartment on the back that is suitable for a few documents that is secured by Velcro.
The carrying strap is long and wide enough to fit comfortably over my good shoulder and clear my arm sling on my injured side.
I attached a large carabiner clip to hold my cane while on the bus.
All in all this is a very good bag that fits my needs exactly. Way to go Rapiddominance!

I bought this bag to run errands with on my bike. ( Library and post office runs, smaller items from the market) So far this bag excels at everything I need it to do. The two front pockets are pretty spacious, good for cell phones, wallets, emergency tools and spare tubes for my bike. The main compartment is pretty huge too, you can fit a 12 pack of beer in with plenty of room to spare. The little zippered pocket in the main compartment is pretty useless, if it ran the full length of the main compartment it would make sense but it's too small. The back pocket is big enough for a standard black and white composition notebook, and the side pockets are great for phones, water bottles and other things you need to get at quick. There are two straps sewn on the outside flap as well, I don't know what their intended purpose was but I hang a blinky tail light on them for saftey when I'm riding (you can also use them to hold a u-lock but it's not the best)
As far as the materials used and the quality of construction, this thing is built to take many years of abuse. It's seriously built like a tank. The only complaint I have is the zippers that were used are the cheapo wire zippers. If they put on some butch plastic or even better metal zippers this thing would be a 10 as far as construction and quality.
For as large and spacious as this bag is, it's not overbearing or cumbersome on a bike. The strap is very comfortable and pretty wide, it sits almost like a shoulder sling when I'm riding and it doesn't flop or slide around even if it's got a bit of weight inside.
Overall, it's an amazing bag. It does what I want it too and stays out of my way while it's doing it.

Is 'good' - SIZE is NOT what they say.

-- FASSST delivery - Sunday (completely un-necessary expense in my opinion).
-- Came packaged in plastic, brand new, on opening, olive green (military) feels nice and sturdy - surprised that it is heavier than the one it is replacing. Much coarser feel to the fabric. The old one - I've carried since 1973 and the straps are finally coming off - so a replacement was needed - and I have some doubt it will last all that long. Nice that this one has more 'pockets' than the old one - main, full flap to cover the two smaller front ones (with zippers) fastened over with hook-n-loop, inside main is a smaller zip-closed (water-resistant?) pocket, two narrow pockets on the short sides with snap closure, and a full-width 'back' pocket that is not covered hook-n-loop closure to it. It has a wide fabric (kinda thin material) strap but no pad of any kind - so if you carry ANY weight at all - this may be an issue (will be looking for a pad for this strap.
-- NOW - this is NOT the size as advertised - NOT EVEN CLOSE. It was advertised as 19x14x7 ... these people need to learn to read. This has been commented on by others also. I measured it right away - from 'seams' - it is 13x10x5 (still large enough for my notebook and stuff, so I'll keep it). BUT a HUGE disappointment they cannot even get sizes correct (but this is a problem across all soft bags I've found - seems they measure the box needed to carry the bag versus the size box that will fit inside the bag. Overall - feels good, is big enough for now and I have hope it will last for some time.
-- The supposed size is 19x14x7 or 1,862 cubic inches of carrying space. What I measured was 13x10x5 (on the one I received) or 650 cubic inches of carrying space. This is a HUGE difference and they need to supply the item advertised. I see one 'Answer' that posted the bag was 19x14x7 - So what's the deal? I would like the larger one please.
