Great bag
JiltedtooDecember 2, 2017
Love Love Love this bag. The quality of the stitching is excellent. It has a spacious top storage space, and separated mid and lower storage section. Also the addition of the side pouches and storage for a rifle, or any long item like walking poles, tent poles, a long telescope or walking stool, is great. The added shelf on the bottom works well for a tent or any heavy object which cannot be strapped to the side of the bag.

Lifting with about 60 lbs is comfortable after a few adjustments. Well worth the price. I look forward to long hikes with it.
Very pleased with the quality
Amazon CustomerOctober 27, 2017
Very pleased with the quality. But this pack is far larger than expected. I'm 5'11" and 147 lbs and could not get it set up right. Not the pack's fault, so I still rate it 5 stars for quality, attachment and pocket arrangement. The rifle holder appears a little weak although in all fairness I wasn't able to fully test it. It's just webbing stitched to the liner so seems it will tear the liner with much use. Also note that unless the pack is stuffed to the max, the rifle won't be very secured.
I'm a very light packer, so it didn't work for me based on size and rifle support, and was returned. But I don't hesitate to recommend it for a larger person needing to carry more gear.
Great customer service from alps outdoorz
Travis SmithOctober 24, 2017
This pack gets a 5 star rating because of customer service for alps outdoorz. I have had this pack for 4 years and felt compelled to give a review after my experience with them. As far as the pack goes, it's a solid pack and frame set up. I have carried 90 lbs of meat for 6-7 miles and had no issues with the pack or frame itself. As the pack is getting older some things have broke but I have really abused this pack over the last few years. The first item that broke was the belt buckle on the waiste strap. This was entirely my fault because I slammed it in the truck door. Alps sent me a new buckle free of charge! Recently went to get ready for a trip and some of the straps have become brittle and broke. I will say that I don't think that the straps should have become so brittle over 4 years. to my surprise after 1 email to alps they are sending me the replacement parts again. They did not try to say that I left it outside in the sun or that I didn't properly care for the pack. They just sent me new parts. Free of charge again. I am wanting to upgrade to a different brand and style of pack But I will keep running the alps until she crumbles or they don't repair it anymore. You really can't beat the pack or customer service for the price. If I had to rate the pack without the customer service it would likely get a 4.
shipping box looked like it went thru a war zone
mrjonOctober 6, 2017
arrived on time, shipping box looked like it went thru a war zone! attaching a rifle on the pack is its best feature. the top bar is a pain, even at its highest setting it hits my head. after one day the shoulder strap began ripping away from its attachment point. I was extremely careful with the shoulder straps loading and unloading the pack from my back for the rest of the trip. No doubt that eventually they will rip off, and i see no way to buy a replacement strap. stitching on the bag has held up fairly well, but starting to unravel in a couple spots. As so many other reviews have stated, the pins used to attach the bag to the frame are a joke. real pain in the neck, whoever that dude was in the video attaching the bag so effortlessly deserves an award of some sort, he makes it look sooo easy, in reality, it is not. would give it 4 stars if not for the weak shoulder strap attachments. have bought many alps products, this is the first one that was a semi dissapointment.
Large external frame pack for a great price
Chris LeeDecember 16, 2016
Great deal! I purchased this for a hunting trip to Alaska next fall, but i tried it out on an overnight hiking trip this fall. It worked out great. The compartments are spacious and the pockets are great. The shoulder straps and the hip belt were very comfortable. I compared this to several others and found this one to be more spacious but still lighter in weight than other leading brands. Meaning the backpack itself isnt adding a ton of weight all by itself. This is an external frame pack, which is getting harder and harder to find these days. Not to mention, the cost is much more reasonable than any other pack that i found from the big box stores. I would certainly recommend this pack.
