I like everything about this chili. Great blend of ingredients. Highly recommended.
Very good but not that hot.

I was searching for a replacement for Stagg's Steakhouse Reserve Chili which apparently no longer available. I decided to check out the "dynamite hot" chili. It was excellent but more like firecracker hot than dynamite hot. If you are looking for REALLY hot chili, this is not it.
Not very hot

Well it tastes okay, but not very hot. That is easily remedied however.
Not spicy enough

Stagg chili has been on my list of canned chili to try. Nothing beats homemade but canned chili can be a good, quick meal once in a while, so I keep it on hand. I've tried many brands of canned chili and I have a couple of favorites. I saw this Stagg Dynamite hot Chili with Beans for a good price so I bought a can to try. The first thing I noticed after opening the can was that there was no congealed grease on top or stuck to the inside of the can like with some brands of canned chili. As I poured it into the bowl I saw that there was a good balance of meat and beans. I could see tomato, and diced chunks of what looked like onions and peppers. It was thick and had a rich chili smell. After heating it thinned out a little but was still fairly thick. I chose not to add anything like onions or cheese like I do sometimes. I wanted to try this chili on it's own first. I just had some saltine crackers to crumble and add after first testing a few bites. Right from the start I could taste the tomato and chili. I also noticed there were some sizable chunks of ground beef and about the right amount of beans for me. I found the flavor to be moderately spicey. I can handle some pretty hot chili so this was only mildly hot for me. There was plenty of flavor though. I could taste the chili and a faint habanero flavor. There was also a lot of tomato flavor. Overall I found this to be a really good chili. There was really only one thing I didn't like. There is a certain sweetness in the overall flavor profile. It reminded me of the same sweetness I experienced with Campbell's Chunky chili. Even their spicey variety has a sweetness. This stagg chili is sort of the same hot and sweet taste profile. I would recommend this for someone who likes a tad of sweetness in their chili. It's a matter of preference and I still prefer the taste of Wolf and Hormel over this. No sweetness there. I would still rate this Stagg chili as one of the highest quality canned chilis I've ever had. They clearly use good ingredients and care about the quality of their product. I also noticed their chili has a lower salt content than most brands.
