Best thing to carry while on gigs

At first I was concerned about scratching the finish however with the bullet guitar Jack being plastic it does not rub on the body. I wish I had sooner.
... makes it difficult to use on recessed jack plates like on a telecaster

The thick plastic wall of the wrench part makes it difficult to use on recessed jack plates like on a telecaster. I ended up using another wrench to tighten the nut. Plus the retention material relies on friction to retain the inside of the jack while turning the wrench. Therefore only makes contact with the opening of the jack, not the inside wall. I guess I will toss it into the guitar case, but don't count on it working in a pinch.
Find the happy medium.

I had to leave feedback after this little thing worked. Yes...it's plastic...and sure, I'm not sure how long it will hold up.
BUT, I had STRIPPED the hell out of the jack/input I had installed...(first time installing, mucked it up a bit). Anyway, this thing was able to tighten the jack on a stripped thread. I think the trick to this guy is really pressing the little nub thing into the jack and slowly tightening. I guess I wouldn't advise pressing TOO hard as I wouldn't want you to break straight through the hole in the case of an acoustic instrument. I'm guessing the reason this thing failed for so many is that they were scared to push it in hard. So be careful...I also wouldn't want you breaking a hole into your guitar. Find the happy medium.

Useless plastic junk
Kenny Begun•December 3, 2015
Piece of junk! It is different than the product that I saw advertised elsewhere, but the same name. The nut on the guitar (G&L Legacy) which is a strat design made by Leo Fender himself is too small for the tightener on this useless tool. I am very disappointed.
Convenient but not necessary.

Like others I have an issue with the cable jack nut coming loose on my guitars. I keep a socket wrench set in my cases but when I saw this tool I thought it would be a great alternative. This is a two piece unit but the pieces do not separate. It has a stud (male) that fits into the jack (female), but just the tip. It does not insert completely. It is just meant to keep the jack from spinning while you tighten down the nut. The other piece is the socket that tightens down the nut. It works with my Fender Acoustic and my Schecter Bass, but does not work with my Ibanez Guitar. The nut on my Ibanez is smaller. Overall it works as advertised.
Pros:
It's plastic so it should not mark up any surfaces.
Does not take up much room in my cases.
Cons:
Does not work with all my instruments.
