Does not work in Brick encased mailbox.

We bought this as a mailbox alarm to alert us when the mailbox is opened. The alarm worked great when tested at the mailbox, but did not work when in the mailbox. We discovered that it was because our mailbox was enclosed in a brick housing and the signal could not get through to the receiver. I am writing this so anyone out there with a similar mailbox will know to buy a different one and won't have to pay the shipping to send it back. We are now in the process of searching for a different type that might work in our mailbox.

Absolutely love this. When I first got it I just sat the transmitter on my front porch rail and every time the wind blew it went off. Then I securely mounted it on a tree beside my driveway. Only goes off when a car, person, large dog or deer pass by. Placed the receiver in my kitchen. The chime is set on low and I have no difficulty hearing it all over the house. It will wake me up, although my husband with selective hearing sleeps through it.
