Works really well. Battery life is great. The torque settings are a little stiff but work well enough that you can install a light switch plate without cracking it. For people saying it doesn't have enough torque you really need to use the right tool for the job. Drilled a few pilot holes in concrete with my hammer drill then installed tapcons for Christmas lights with no problem. Put up a shelf in my garage drilled a hole for anchors the set the screws with no problem. If you need to drill a bunch of screws into hardwood without a pilot hole then get a regular drill. The one I received has a rubber protector so it doesn't pinch you when you fold it over to use it drill style. The 2 speeds, forward/reverse and torque settings give you a lot of control. The led works well and I like that you can control it manually. For light jobs around the home the Hitachi is a fast ready to go tool.
Perfectly gentle clutch for working on laptops and small electronics! Amazing batteries!

Amazing cordless driver for working on laptops, desktops, and any electronics! I had to order a #0 bit online from Wiha tools, once that came in, I was set free from endless manual driving of screws in the disassembly and reassembly of laptops and desktops. The lowest setting on the clutch is perfectly gentle to use on small electronics without fear of stripping screws or damaging the screw receptacles. I did file off the very end of the drill bit I bought for it to create a more secure non-skipping grip on tiny screws. I was almost convinced to buy the Panasonic cordless driver at $150, but i'm glad I didn't. This driver is a technician's dream! The batteries are also amazing. Each one lasts long enough to disassemble and reassemble somewhere around 15 laptops. In my case this was about 3 work days. I'd charge the two batteries and they'd last me the entire workweek. There are very few tools which came through and performed for me in exactly the way I needed it to. Buy this thing NOW.

I have used this driver only a few times but I like it. It is very light and has enough power for the light jobs I do with it. They mitigated the inside pinch problem w/ some soft rubber. The 2 batteries are a plus and last a long time. I wish the handle would lock into position but it not a big deal that it doesn't. The clutches work well. I would recommend and buy again. I like that the light can be turned on w/ a separate switch instead of being trigger activated.
Light duty, excellent stick driver.

I have no idea why more people don't buy Hitachi tools. I have bought two recently, one of them being this stick driver, and they are quality tools. This excels at its application: modest torque, for light duty--putting in electrical boxes, assembling furniture, cleaning out my ears... I recently had the gyroscopic one from DeWalt, and it was better on torque, pretty intuitive to get used to, but shortly after obtaining it it became quirky, inaccurate inits response to motion, including not responding at all. I ended up spiking it like a football, but not in celebration. There was no victory dance after, just a shame trudge. I'm kind of glad Hitachi aren't one of the major competitors, as it may be why their tools are less expensive and better. I get the feeling that some of the bigger tool manufacturers, such as the one that makes the yellow tools, are being influenced more by shareholder meetings and less by the desire to make an excellent product. In other words their stuff is starting to suck. I also purchased Hitachi's lithium ion nail gun and it straight up smokes the competition. I've owned the DeWalt version, the NiCad, which lasted almost a decade, from when battery operated nailers were still struggling to gain the confidence of pneumatic users. I've used the new version, and it holds its own still. I love the ease of the nail jam clearing mechanism. But I don't like jamming nails. The Senco was great for the 3 months it lasted, and became a doorstop after a weak and canned apology from the manufacturer. Never buying their tools again, period. My tools are starting to turn green. Hitachi convert in the making.

Having not been pleased with the other options I found locally, I purchased this screwdriver in the hopes it would be better quality than the rest. I found the tool to be solidly built with a good balance and feel and enough torque to do the job. The lithium batteries are a big plus with enough power to last of a few hours at a time. The more I used the screwdriver the more I liked it ... until yesterday when I set the clutch on 23 and engaged the low range. The gear box broke. Now to figure out how the warranty works.
