Great starter violin for the price.

I purchased this violin in September of 2014, and it still plays extremely well with all the original parts -- including the strings. I play it on average of three to four days a week for about 45 minutes a day. After each practice, for proper maintenance, I do wipe down the violin and strings with a dry cloth. The violin stays in tune for weeks -- even months -- once it's properly tuned. The only thing I would upgrade are the steel strings (although I still use the original ones). As with any steel strings, they sound a bit metallic when played (and they are loud!). There's no need for an amplifier with this violin. When I use my heavy rubber ultra mute, the sound quality of the steel strings become smooth and soft with no metallic sound. One wouldn't even think it was the same violin. I highly recommend this violin for anyone who is thinking about learning to play the violin for the first time, and who is on a tight budget. This violin is not a toy by any stretch of the imagination.
This is a great starter violin

This is a great starter violin. The fine tuners work much better than others of this size and it was definitely worth spending more than other options in the $70 range. For a student more advanced than book one or two suzuki I would try out a more expensive one (well, for that level I would try a few in stores) but for a beginner this is great. It has a nice sound and it stays in tune fairly well.
Great price for a beginner

Great price for a beginner. It comes with the bridge, bow, rosin (check the compartment), and the violin with the chin rest.

But, when I tried to tune it, the G string snapped. We had to take it to the local music shop where they said the strings should be replaced, they were just old, they said. So paid an extra $40 for the strings and bridge to be correctly placed.

Otherwise it all works great and, if you got newer strings, can be played right away. It makes a great sound even if you are a beginner!
Quality Violin at a great price!

This Violin was purchased for my 9 year old daughter who is just started Violin lessons. The cost of a rental versus the purchase price was a no brainer. I read through reviews on numerous Violins & this one lives up to its hype. Seems very well made, sturdy case, great color. Her teacher said its a great choice for a beginner. The only down side (at first anyway) is that you have to tune it quite often until it gets worked in a bit. As far as I know they are all that way?! Anyway its really a great instrument & at the price We can afford to purchase a new one as she grows up to a full size & never break the bank.
Good Quality Violin!

My daughter received this violin for Christmas, and it was a great purchase!
it comes with a great case, and the violin has been able to withstand her 8 year old wear and tear!
The only problem we had (as parents who know nothing about string instruments) is we broke the bow before we were able to give it to her, and we are still unsure if this was our fault or anything to do with quality.
That being said, her music instructor has confirmed that this is a great quality instrument.
We could not beat the price, would definitely consider purchasing again!
