Install of radius door
Charles ChambersDecember 6, 2014
I bought two of these and they are easy installs. They do not come with instructions nor do they come with an installation pack. I had to go buy 100 number 8 one inch screws to install them and you will also need several boxes of rope calk and a tube of poly sealer. The doors are a bit undersized for the opening but that eases the installation. In my case the old door had a rubber strip covering the install screws on the outside door flange. Peeling the rubber seal off exposes about 60 two inch screws that had to be removed to get the old door out along with removing the drip cap off the door top or header. After removing the old door you will need to peel off all the old calk. I then applied the new calk rope to the new doors flang all around. I had someone help me insert the new door in the opening and hold it to the top whil I drilled holes and put two screws in place to hold it. I then drilled and screwed each hole in the flange and installed the drip cap. One all the hardware work is tight you then seal the entire door with the poly seal and install the inside threshold. I had to call the mfg for install instructions and they were very helpful. One thing they advise is to re tighten the screws every few days right after the install as the calk rope settles in with the heat and pressure and you'll need to tighten it down in stages to get a good seal. Also you will want to be sure and use stainless screws to avoid any rusting etc in the future. All in all it went pretty smooth and works as stated. I found the doors to be lightweight and wish they were a little more durable for their intended use. Time will tell on how well they hold up.
I love it
