Very good product.

I'm currently living full time in my RV. We were here at the RV park only a month or so when I noticed build up in the water connectors. I found this portable water softener on line. It came ready to use, I didn't have to "charge" it. Just hooked it inline with the city water supplied at the RV park. What a difference! My wife was very pleased having soft water because we have a washer in the RV. She says it makers all the difference having soft water to wash clothes. I noticed it in the shower, the soap lathered up so much better than with the hard water.
My biggest concern was how long the soft water would last before it would require "regeneration" (adding more salt). It comes with test strips so that you can monitor the hardness of the water, but I could actually feel the difference when the unit needed regeneration. It's lasted a month and that's with two people in the household with a clothes washer. The regeneration process was simple to do and required only 2 pounds of salt.
I'm very satisfied with the unit. I'd highly recommended it to any fellow RVer.

and my water heater sacrificial anode looks like new.

If you travel to various campgrounds and wonder about the quality of water you are introducing to your plumbing, buy it! It does make a difference with using soap and rinsing, streaking on air dried items, and my water heater sacrificial anode looks like new.
GREAT

Works just as they say it does. Water is soft and it uses actual table salt for recharging. Great for use in an RV since there is very little and very precious space for storing large bags of Soft Water Salt. Helps to keep hard water deposits from fouling up RV water system, i.e. Pump, Shower and Sink Heads, Toilet...all of which are expensive to replace. Wish I'd known about this years ago before the need to replace everything including the water lines.
Disappointing product, no customer service

When I did the initial 2 minute flush, this water softener put out dark orange-colored water. It eventually turned clear, but it took a bit longer than 2 minutes. A common issue with dark orange water is resin beads leaking out of the water softener. I captured some of this initial flush in a 5 gallon bucket and examined it in detail for resin beads, but found nothing.
Whenever the water softener sits unused for several hours and I go to use it again, it puts out a light orange-colored water. I have no idea what type of chemicals are causing this discoloration, but I'm guessing that something from the plastic resin is leaching out into the water. I definitely don't want to drink it, so I have to go through this flushing process every time I use the water softener.
I have this hooked up to a water hose spigot on my well, where I'm very familiar with the water quality. We've never had rust in our water, so I've ruled that out.
I've tried to contact Watts customer support several times, but they are not reachable. They don't return calls and I'm not willing to wait on hold for longer than 20 minutes. I also sent a question to the Amazon seller, RVSUPPLIES, asking about this issue, but received no reply.

Softens water great

Purchased to use in our rv as we are full timers and the water where we currently are is very hard. Looked at several different versions and this seemed to fit our needs the best. It does a great job of softening the water. The only downside is the inlet hose connector is stationary so you have to twist the entire hose to connect it. I ended up using a short connector hose from the disposable water filter and this made it much easier. If it wasn't for the connections, I would've given it 5 stars.
