I have cooked very few paellas in my life so I am not an expert. I always have used regular rice that can be found in any supermarket or grocery store. However for once I decided to use this Calasparra rice which is said to be used by the most prestigious chefs in Spain. And yes, the difference is huge. it is a "WOW" rice. It is much easier to cook with it and the flavor and taste are totally different. Much, much better and juicy! It also requires less time for cooking. I impressed all my guests and got many compliments. I totally recommend this product for any dish with rice. The delivery was fast and the product came in perfect conditions!

I was working on a recipe for a website and needed a more authentic type of rice. Bomba is recommended but was a little pricier than what I wanted to pay. I did a bit of research and this type of rice was listed as an acceptable variety due to its round shape and absorbency. In good paella you want the rice to absorb all the liquid and then form a crusty bottom called socrarrat. This rice was perfect! I have had paella at restaurants, and this was the first time making it at home and I could not have been happier with the results. I figure I will be able to make 3 pans of paella with this bag.

Very good quality, reasonably priced!

I used this Spanish rice for the first time in my paella and found it to be perfect for the burnt crust on the bottom of the dish. Even though the package instructions called for 4 to 1 ratio of water to rice, I used 2 1/2 to 1 and was pleased with the consistency and especially the burnt crust on the bottom of the pan. My local super market didn't carry anything near the quality of this rice when it comes to making paella.
