It works really well if you follow the recipes in the book. They are thicker and create the perfectly round spheres.
My Daughter Saw The Cake Pop Maker In Action at a Friend's House and Had to Get One!
PitchBlk✓ Verified Purchase•February 7, 2017
Just what I need, another small single purpose mini appliance cluttering up my kitchen. So why did I buy it? Never underestimate the persuasive power of a 12 year old girl who loves to bake for her classmates at school!
We used a recipe from the instruction booklet with no issues and look forward to trying other recipes from the book as well.
Tips (some of them are also mentioned in other reviews so if you think someone else said it before, you're right!):
- Cake pop appliance gets hot. Be careful!
- Use a squeeze bottle to squeeze batter into the holes of the cake pop machine. It's fast, convenient, and easy to quickly fill the machine so the cake pops start baking close to the same time.
- Fill the holes close to the top (the batter will expand into the shape of a ball when baking is complete.
- Be sure the cake pop latch is closed when you set the top lid down to bake your cake pops. I had to manually close the latch every time (no biggie).
- Halfway through the bake cycle, use the two prong fork (included in the package) along with another kitchen utensil (I used a plastic knife) to flip each cake pop ball over so the top part is now facing the bottom of the appliance. This is so the cake pop can brown evenly.
That's it! There's nothing like popping freshly made cake pop balls into your mouth without using a full sized oven.
The cake pop maker is small, simple, and works well. My daughter and I are very happy with it and best of all, it's a great father/daughter bonding moment!

Do not use boxed cake mix!

Tried to "hack" the recipe by using boxed cake and totally failed. The balls came out flat and super fluffy! I finally gave in and used the suggested red velvet recipe that came along with this machine and it came out great! I was able to easily push out over 150 cake pops in just a little under 2 hours! So glad I made the purchase!
These are mini!

Make sure you read that these are mini pops! Works great. Cook's evenly. I haven't had a problem with cake mix sticking to plates. Perfect for my project of Polkadot cakes.
AMAZON Service RULES!!! thank you ..the product is just "ok"
Amazon Customer✓ Verified Purchase•June 21, 2016
Amazon is wonderful! first of all let me give them 5 stars for the service they provide. This cakepop maker is fun and good but there is a strange design flaw both my husband and I noticed ..that makes hard to handle and very slippery so be very careful! I purchased the first one and it came out of the package with a small crack but nothing I would care about ...then I made the first batch the cakepops were unevenly baked but "ok" when I went to pick it up the top and bottom were loose and off a bit so it slipped out of my hands and fell ..it was fine that time but my husband did the same thing. this is so hard to explain I hope you can get a picture ..it is not easy to clean because the top and bottom are so wiggly . So I sent it back and really thought this one was "flawed" over night AMAZON CAME TO THE RESCUE! (we did have plans for making the pops for a party) the next day in less than 24 hours my machine was replaced and on my doorstep. However it is just "ok" this one is in perfect condition and the top and bottom are still very loose and hard to handle while cleaning so be very careful especially when it is hot ..when you wipe the maching wtih a little oil and a peper towel like reccomended in slips and tips and could easly slide off the counter..so I put a mat under it and am keeping it becuase I love the tiny size and this one does bake the pops more evenly. It is good worth the price but not as great for the kids to use as I thought due to the slipping and slidding unless you put a mat under it and are right there with them ..so it is "ok " for the price and if you are careful it is fine ..Amazong is superb yet again with the replacement thanks so much
