The product photo's do not do this valve justice! This valve is large and well built. Everything about this valve is high-quality and heavy-duty, from the very well machined threads, to the large handle giving you plenty of leverage to open and close the already smooth operating valve. Much higher quality than a brass valve from Home Depot or Lowes. Costs a bit more but I have no doubt that this valve will not break, seize, or mysteriously corrode away. If it's time on one project comes to an end, this valve will be moved to another use and still hold up like a champ. This feels like it belongs on a serious piece of equipment such as a steam engine boiler, whereas the competition brass valves I've purchased are barely suitable for water heater hookups.
Excellent quality valves, but beware of stainless threads seizing.

These valves worked well for my application, but only after I learned how to deal with stainless steel threads. If you use ordinary teflon tape or pipe dope the threads are almost guaranteed to seize way before they are tight enough to seal. And it happens suddenly, so if you're tightening an elbow it will most likely seize in an unusable position.

This problem disappears if you use special nickel-impregnated teflon tape for thread seal. There are several brands, probably all good. I used "Poly Temp" nickel anti-seize tape; a very robust tape that completely eliminated the seize phenomenon.

Working with 1-inch pipe I left the first thread un-taped, and used 4 full turns on the remaining threads. All my joints sealed perfectly and there was plenty of rotation latitude to get the street elbows pointing where I wanted them.
Excellent Ball Valve

This is a much nicer looking stainless steel ball valve than I thought it was going to be and is very thick for more than adequate strength. The body is a huge 2" in diameter and is about 3 3/8" long. The handle is 4 1/2" long from the bend and has a locking slide on it to lock the handle in place when the valve is in either the open or the closed position, a very nice safety feature. The valve movement is very tight, not loose at all, which is a good thing. Yes, it's expensive, but once you see it in person, you'll see why.....it is really manufactured very well! If you need a really good 1" stainless steel ball valve, this is it!
