Perfect!

Harvesting rainwater at our cabin for showers and dishwashing--this is perfect! It filters out the debris from the spouting before it enters the tank!

Working like a charm

My Leaf Eater is working just like I had hoped. The only shortcoming I've seen is that the screen fits inside of the lower lip. So, some leaves tend to get stuck there instead of sliding off. This creates a bit of a log jam of leaves. It has not hurt the performance and/or purpose, but does mean I have to climb up to clean the leaves off occasionally.
Total Failure

I have two oak trees that over hang my house. When the squirrels harvest acorns they bite off the ends of branches and make a mess of the roof. This gets into the gutters and downspouts. There has been two blockages of downspouts already and I thought I would give this a try. It did not work at all.

We had a hard rain just after I finished the installation. And before that I had cleaned the gutters of the larger debris. The oak leaves hit the screen and just stick there. The rushing water from the heavy rain just splashes off the leaves and onto the ground. I estimate no more than 20 percent of the gutter water was making into the downspout. It made a mess.

I wish this had worked, but if you have oak trees over your house I do not recommend this.
