Great but not stick proof. We're on number 4 !

This metronome is simple to use, not obnoxious, and has every beat type a drummer needs.
It's great.
However, as noted in the title, they are NOT stick proof LOL. My son is on his FOURTH MA1.
First one, age 10, it lasted 1 month before he got frustrated and hit it with the stick. Probably more than once. Bought another one.
Second one, age 12, had it on the 14" tom to his right while practicing para-diddles, and decided to move from the snare to the toms. Oops. Broken screen.
Third one, age 14, not sure what he did, but the screen is broken. He paid for #4 himself.
If it wasn't a great metronone, we wouldn't keep buying them, but I need to gt a steel cage or something for it.

Good Metronome To Fit a Tight Budget

The Korg MA-1 is a solo metronome with a range of 30 to 252 bpm. The metronome's timing is accurate. It also has twelve reference pitches for tuning.
The best selling point of this metronome is the tempo tap feature. This allows you to tap the tempo button with a beat, and the metronome will automatically set the bpm. This feature worked great.
This metronome can help you with any beat you may come across. It contains rhythms for triplets, which I immediately found useful. The LCD also has a graphical pendulum which assists in keeping with the beat, as well as a counter that tells you which beat you are on. The accent beat can be set from 1 to 9, or set to 0 to turn off completely, useful for counting measures.
The adjustable volume control and headphone jack work well. The built-in speaker isn't very loud, however. The little stand that pops out of the back is a perfect little addition.
Most people will probably be content with a metronome app on their smartphone, but if you want to be on the beat consistently, nothing is more accurate than a hardware digital metronome. The Korg MA-1 is a good choice.

Useful for My Purposes

This metronome is fairly inexpensive, and arrived promptly and in full working order. The tuning tones are fairly useless for my purposes, but the metronome function itself is very handy. I like being able to subdivide the beat, and easily change the tempo. One downside is that the metronome itself without headphones does not get very loud. If it was louder, it would be more useful. However, it is not too much of a problem to plug in headphones or use an aux cable to plug the metronome into an amplification system of some sort. Overall, I would recommend this device. 4/5 stars.

While this does the job in a small form factor and easy to use design, there are a couple of drawbacks. First, we got this primarily for piano practicing and, as such, it can be a little too quiet to be heard over the piano even at its loudest setting. Secondly, the "click" is more of a "beep" so if you are concentrating on hearing pitches this can be distracting.
I LOVE IT!

I BOUGHT THE MA-1 IN RED. VERY ACCURATE. ALMOST EVERYTHING YOU NEED IN A METRONOME. I WISH IT HAD 12 BEATS INCLUDED IN THE BEATS.
