Great lighting kit for the price

I'm new to 'making' videos. I used to 'shoot' video - press the record button, edit the video clip and upload to YouTube or Vimeo. Now I'm trying to learn lighting and green screen special effects. Once I have a green screen clip I already knew how to use the Chroma Keyer in my editor. The Fancier 2000 Watt Lighting Kit contained everything I needed to begin playing with lighting. I had never seen a soft box before. Only in pictures or tutorial videos. I had a little trouble at first assembling the soft box. Once I got the hand of it, it kind of went OK. I compared the photo on Amazon with my soft box and realized the the outer diffuser screen just tucked in at each of the 4 corners. Cool. I tried to use the Velcro on each side flap. While that worked, the edges were crooked, uneven. Then I had 2 small white cloths left over. Ah, mounts inside the soft box as an internal difuser. I could easily see the difference.
For the price point I am very pleased and can now shoot green screen special effects that are properly lit.

Great for the price. Not good for a lot of set ups and break downs because the fittings and stands are not going to hold up. The soft boxes are fiddly. Lots of work to get them set up. Next lights will be an LED unit that does not require the soft box. That being said. Everything worked out of the box and it performed its job. Lights look good at the camera end.

This is a piece of junk. First problem was with the background stand. I have another stand from another company and know how these work. The uppermost pole will not extend, nor is the top screw tall enough to attach the crossbar. I even removed the top screw and there was no way for the top pole to extend. I could attach the crossbar after removing the top screw assembly, but it would not extend past 5" in height making it unusable. Both stands are identically defective.
Second problem - the boom arm. The instructions on using this are non-existent. In trying to wrangle this without instructions, the assembly fell apart. There is no support whatsoever from this company. Even their YouTube videos are nothing more than an advertisement.
My other set is from Cowboy Studio and it works great. We decided that "Fancierstudio" is code for "Piece of Crap".

the lights are hard to assemble

The kit is good for the price, however I had a struggle to get the hood on the light. I had to youtube it since I couldn't figure it out from the diagram. I still have them on wrong - its horizontal instead of vertical. It was so hard to get the hood on, that I didn't want to try to fix it. Although I might make the attempt as now I see the vertical lights would be better. I also was disappointed when I realized that it didn't come with a white and black backdrop like some of the other sets. It's only the green one. I must've gotten the sets confused since I looked at several different kits at the same time. The lights are bright but on the cool side. Since I don't have a white backdrop, I used a white sheet instead, which works ok. If you do get this, I would recommend getting some clamps to hold the cloth in position. Hanging from the top will not give you a smooth surface. Overall, this is a good intro kit for me since I'm still figuring things out.

VERY flimsy set up..seems like it will break if you fart too close to it..smh...i wish i had read the reviews prior to buying it..i would def have spent an extra 50-80 and got one of the name brand ones like neewer or something
