Great, but not perfect
Abe Froman✓ Verified PurchaseApril 17, 2018
Well, it's a great idea and design. Unfortunately, the rods are flimsy. There's a lot of sag/flex when using the rods to support shorter rifles or heavier rifles. Could I elevate the short rifles? Yes, but if I elevate the shorter rifles, it reduces the available floor space because the riser interferes. All in all, I would recommend the product. If you have a lot of modern sporting rifles, or scoped hunting rifles, this doesn't free up as much space. However, it does keep the guns from rubbing against one another. The system really shines if you have mostly shotguns and basic rifles without optics. It helped my situation by protecting valuable, collectible shotguns from resting on other guns, but didn't free up "extra space" like I anticipated. I have too many scoped hunting rifles.
MUST HAVE for long guns in a traditional safe.

If you have a traditional rifle safe, you are aware that it won't hold your guns in a space-efficient way. The guns lean on the wall and crowd each other, or they need to be finessed carefully into a rack. If you have guns of dramatically different lengths, forget it: you will never set the rack height to a position that fits all.

These (super simple) rods solved all of these problems. In essence, I was able to take a space that had 7 crowded guns leaning on eachother, and room for NO more, and have fit 9 guns (oddly shaped mix of Armalite-pattern, bolt action and vintage rifles, and a 12ga shotgun) on rods, without heavy contact and with room for another. Just staple the Velcro sheet to a shelf, secure the shelf above your rifles (bolted in, not free-floating), and Velcro the rifles to the shelf. They will wobble slightly but won't fall, and the rod basically allows them to free-stand side by side.

In my configuration, you never need to move more than one long-gun to get to any other. There are two rows, neatly organized in a way that would have been impossible without a device like this.
Worth every cent!

I love this thing. I have 19 long guns and couldn't get the last one in the safe. Some guns were falling into each other and it was just an absolute mess. It took less than an hour to staple the Velcro to the top of the safe and stack the guns neatly in the safe. It's actually expensive for what you get, but I think it's worth it. I wouldn't want to do this with wooden dowels as they can contain moisture that can rust your barrel. Now I should be able to store 20 or 21 long guns.

BTW, AR-15 rifles and any others that have a pistol grip take about a space and a half. They are just larger and there's not much you can do about it. Without those I could easily store 24+ long guns.
Good Product - Would Recommend

These rifle rods are such a simple idea and they WORK. My safe was completely full and I had three more rifles I wanted to get in so I thought I'd try these. After installing ALL my rifles went in and I have room for maybe three more!!! So bottom line is with using these rods I gained space for 5-6 more rifles in the same space ... NOT BAD. I rated a 4 star because I would like to see the rods a little more rigid and a little longer. The carpet/Velcro piece could have been a little larger to fit my safe better. While the carpet covers most of the bottom shelf it didn't cover it all so it "looks bad" but I'm a perfectionist so it may not bother a lot of people?
Great for rifles but only mediocre for shotguns

So first off the quality of the plastic rods and the hook/loop is excellent, there was no flaws here. I love the orange color because it makes it easy to see if there is a rod in your barrel so if you grab your shotgun or rifle for a home defense you will not mistakenly leave the rod there. As for the main function of this product here are the pros and cons

Pros
-Easy to install
-Improves long gun storage space by 20%-50% depending on firearm types
-Makes it easy to get firearms in and out
-Holds rifles securely especially rifles with a bore diameter of .22 cal or 5.56mm
-Easy to add on to
-Modular

Cons
-Extra rods seem pricey to me since the add on rod kits and the starter kits are the same amount even though the rod kits have no hook loop panel just the rod.
- Does not hold shotguns well especially not a side by side (needed two rods for the side by side as show in picture, Also in picture is another semi auto 12 gauge is leaning to one side) they need to make a rod made for shotguns that stays centered in the barrel.
- Requires a staple gun, which is a tool not everyone has (good news is a cheep one is only 10 bucks) It would be nice if they included some sort of screw or nail system that would allow it to be installed with just a hammer.

Overall its a great product and I suggest it for anyone
