Good value

I was not sure what to expect from this inexpensive microscope, but it is just what I wanted. I can easily check out things I find to see what they look like up close. I like that the lights run off batteries. The lighting is good. The specimen plate is black on one side and white on the other. I have not tried it, but the hole size looks right for a culture plate (petri dish) to fit in. The only drawback is that the eyepieces are held in by a small screw, which you have to remove to change lenses. No big deal, just bring the screws about half way out and you can change the eyepieces with ease. It come with a cover that is made out of something like shower curtain material. It protects it from dust. The optics seem pretty good to my eyes.
