Lumax LX-1632 Drainmaster Drain Pan Review
Tad Jennings•March 21, 2018
Good design overall and works good for saving your drain plug when pulling in case you drop it. And good for pouring oil out, but that's the end of the positives.
Cheap plastic and the screw cap strips easily due to this and also doesn't seal well.
For the overall design if it was $10.00 or less might be worth owning. Not worth more than that, due to the flimsy material made of.

This one's pretty much ideal for a do-it-yourselfer

Gawd, don't put ANY drain pans of this design in your car while full - they ALL leak under those conditions! It's not just this one.
Collect your oil, then transfer it to the empty jug(s) that your new oil came in before transporting it to a recycling center.
Don't transport it in this or any other similarly-designed drain pan.
Just buy the one that suits the size of your crankcase capacity and leave it in the garage.
This one's pretty much ideal for a do-it-yourselfer.
The opening is wide enough to allow for slight breezes and the screen catches your drain plug so you don't have to fish through hot oil to find it.
The size of the top opening on this pan was more than sufficient for a 4Runner.
Made changing oil a breeze after dealing with skid plates.

This drip pan is a total piece of junk. ...

This drip pan is a total piece of junk. The caps do not seal correctly; don't even think about turning this tote upright unless you have a pile of kitty litter underneath it. The hole for catching oil is very small as well. I have a small Honda and the hole was not big enough to catch the oil flow and drips. I purchased this because I thought it would be easier to tote my used oil to the shop for disposal but half of the oil ended up on the floor. This is not environmentally friendly. This is a failure of a design, build, or both. DO NOT BUY.
I thought 8" was enough (TWSS)

This works exactly as you would expect. Remove the red 8" cap, drain your fluid, replace red cap, store, discard fluid as appropriate. I have only used this once and the experience was exactly as expected. No issues, no leaks. I would have given this a full 5 stars except for one reason: The 8" hole is too small. It's like trying to pee into a milk jug from 6 feet. It is unnecessarily small. If you have the situation where the 8" hole is adequate, there is no reason not to purchase this. For me, I will probably scrap this one and purchase another model with at least a 16" hole to drain into.
Great Oil Pan!
T. Barnes•September 2, 2016
I've used this pan twice since owning it and have had ZERO issues with the seal or storage of oil. I STRONGLY recommend laying it flat, as pictured. It's very difficult to tighten the large opening on the top (without over tightening so much that you can't open it again), it may cause it to leak if it's not tight enough. The smaller cap has a much better seal and won't leak AT ALL, so store it flat. Make sure you know how far the oil is going to come out of your car, because even though it's a great pan, the top opening is on the smaller side. Overall it's been a great investment and I would strongly reccomend buying it!!
