While admitting that you get what you pay for, this item is not well-built, and did not last long. Specifically, the metal top cover of the heating element is thin and deforms, eventually pressing into the stirring element and making horrible noises before eventually preventing it from stirring at all. And we're talking less than a year of not-daily use, so . . . Give this "deal" a pass.

I bought this thinking it would actually work for creating a controlled temperature of a liquid. In reality it just heats up your solution in an uncontrolled way. Also the temperature reading is way off. I would never trust leaving it unattended.
