Bought two of these as stocking stuffers for my kids, one still works great (after 1.5 wks), the other stopped working after a week (not a battery life issue, we tried that!). I bought these last year (2016), but forgot to give them to them, so I can't return. I will try once more for my son because it really is a great little flashlight (if it works)!

After one more try, we'll try something else if this happens again.

UPDATE: flashlight #2 still works, even after a month of use and abuse at the hands of my 5yr old. And I've ordered a new one, but a slightly different kind (same brand, different model, came with two in the order), and the new one I gave my older son still works great. Second one is still in packaging, using that for power outages.

Excellent workmanship! Note: These flashlights were purchased for my wife's car and my SUV, for emergency lighting in the event adjustable beam lighting is required (from flood to a focused, long range beam). This review may be a bit technical for some readers, but I'm writing this from a Product Design Engineer's perspective (my profession). For a ~$14 expenditure for 2 flashlights, (batteries and lanyard straps included), these units are a great buy! The machining (manufacturing) and attention to detail surpassed my technical expectations. Prior to purchasing these, I researched quite a number of comparable units, read all of the 1 and 2 star reviews of competitive units (lower ratings typically expose flaws in a product), and determined the functionality, physical size and features of these flashlights met my requirements. The units arrived well packaged in a nice, protective twin box, and bubble wrapped to protect the units during shipping. Upon receiving the units, I installed the included batteries, actuated the sliding beam mechanism a few times, and went outdoors to test the functionality. To my surprise, the focused beam was able to light up tall tree tops about 2 blocks down the road, and the flood light position was very bright surrounding my feet. The sliding function of beam adjustment is firm (which is good) and the flashlight fits the palm of your hand comfortably (not too long or too bulky). A very important initial procedure I must point out when using this type of adjustable beam flashlight (the head unit slides forward and backward for beam focus adjustability): Before you use the flashlight for the first time, SLOWLY slide the head unit back and forth a few times, and then SLOWLY rotate the head unit a couple turns, to properly lubricate the internal O-ring (which provides a water seal and the friction necessary to hold the beam position where you want it). Reason being, since the time of manufacturing and assembly, to delivery on your doorstep is unknown, the O-ring around the shaft of the head unit may take a temporary SET, and should be GENTLY actuated to properly lubricate the O-ring and provide a lifetime of service. This is one failure issue that I noticed described on many of the competitive flashlights' 1 and 2 star reviews. However, that could result from shoddy manufacturing or the customer initially not "working" the adjustable beam slowly, prior to using the flashlight. I have several similar small, inferior and inexpensive flashlights that I've picked up over the years at gas stations, auto parts stores, dollar stores, etc"¦. all of which will now be disposed of (after removing old batteries!), and I intend to purchase a couple more sets of these great little flashlights to have around the house and/or to use as gifts! I realize this review was rather detailed and lengthy, but my hope is someone will find it helpful!

I've given this flashlight to many friends and family as a Christmas present. Well made, easy sliding head for zooming, water resistant, and a simple High-Off switch. I also like the balance this flashlight has between brightness and battery life. I dislike other flashlights that make you push the switch multiple times to go thru Hi-Medium-Low-flashing-off. 99% of the time, I just want High. Look elsewhere if you need a light that gives a lower intensity that will last all night.

Great brightness for the price!

For this price, I didn't expect how bright it would be. As someone who's always bought fairly cheap flashlights their whole life, I didn't expect much from this, as I've bought similar flashlights at this price which were half as bright as this one. Yes, there are brighter lights out there, but you'll be paying a lot more. To be honest, I took this flashlight camping and don't think I would want anything brighter than this. Maybe if you're on a search and rescue team, but for general camping, this light is more than enough. This is much brighter than any flashlight i've ever owned (though admittedly all the flashlights I buy are 10 dollars and under). The light is also very sturdy and durable. It's compact and lightweight so great for a backpacker like myself, but it doesn't feel cheaply made.

I had looked at several flashlights on Amazon before finally deciding on this one and am glad I made this choice. Sidenote, I did NOT receive any sort of discount for writing this review, I am genuinely very pleased at how bright it is.

I wanted to love this flashlight. The size is perfect and I was really looking forward to having it to use at night whenever I needed to get out of bed. As others have mentioned, in a short time the button area ceases to work well. After just a week or so it began to give me trouble. I can still get it to work sometimes with several pushes. And sometimes no matter how many pushes, the light does not come on. I keep my cell phone beside it so that I can use it for light when this won't work. A more normal on and off switch would be a bonus because this could be a great flashlight. But I bought it even after reading the reviews about the problem with the on and off switch area. So I did not buy it blindly. We take our chances and sometimes we get the one that works perfectly and sometimes we do not. I took my chances and therefore will not complain. I'm giving it 3 stars because the design of the flashlight overall is good....just need to change that on and off switch thing.
