Best pizza stone available
S. Diehl✓ Verified Purchase•February 12, 2017
This pizza stone is the best I have had or seen. I bought it because of the thickness. I didn't want to always be worried about it breaking. I have had this particular stone for several years (this is my second one) and I make pizza weekly. It makes a big difference between using pans for pizza. Pans will never get your crust as crisp as a stone. When I got serious about making pizza at home instead of take out, I knew I needed a stone to bake it. I put it in the oven and start heating it to 500 degrees. I preheat for 30 minutes, then start baking my pizzas. They bake approximately 13-14 minutes, then are amazing. Everybody can't believe you can make pizza like this at home when they try my pizza. I would recommend this stone as the best pizza stone out there.
Horrible off-gassing smell

Bought this stone to use in our RV oven. I used it first in the house to try it out. Seemed ok in my big oven, but I also had the vent fan running. When I tried to use it in our RV, the smell was so horrible and the fumes so bad my eyes were burning. It literally gassed us out! I feel that it is dangerous with the off-gassing! We had to open the doors & windows & run the exhaust fans to try & get the toxic air out after I grabbed the hot stone out of the oven & threw it outside. What the heck is Cordierite??
I understand that this thing will smoke in the beginning ...

I understand that this thing will smoke in the beginning of use, but it has been used for over a dozen times now and I followed the directions. This thing is junk as it smokes the whole house up! It sets of the smoke alarm. Not fit for use inside a house! Buy another brand!
Smells extremely bad. Chemical smell through out kitchen

Was perfect for about 5 uses. I followed care instructions. Then whenever it was heated about 350 degrees it would smoke badly and have a extremely bad chemical smell. when the stove door was opened the white smoke would come rolling out and we would have to use mits to take the stone outside till it was done smoking.
after this happened the 4th time i through it away.
It did work very well before all the these problems. If it didnt smoke and smell it would probably last years with awesome results. maybe i got the 1 in a million bad stone but who can say

I couldn't get the terrible smell out of it. Left it in the bottom of the oven for a month too. It would stink the whole house up. Had to throw away.
