Good for artists!

Never used a laptop stand, never thought I'd needed one until I saw an artist using it to hold their sketchbook. When drawing it's highly recommended to elevate your surface so it's not completely flat, this can be hard to do sometimes! Either you have no space or no way to support a sketchbook and draw comfortably. I bought this thinking it would elevate perfectly on top of my desk, and it sits just a little too high to draw without movements feeling awkward (if my desk sat lower, this wouldn't be a problem).

Then I moved it to my lap and it's PERFECT. You can move your arm and you're not slouching, and the surface is not completely flat. The feet are surprisingly not digging in and since it's not a classic lever design (like a bookstand) it actually stays on your lap more securely. Combined with how sturdy and heavy this thing is, it's going to stay in place and not mess up your drawing. It veered a little from my original intentions but worked out so much better.
Highly Recommend This One...

My wife was having a lot of issues with her neck and shoulders after her work switched to laptops due to posture and positioning. This stand almost completely fixed the issues as soon as she started using it. It is very well made and feel really solid. It adjusts easily....the large adjustment range and the ability to set it higher than some others is great. The venting really helps with the heat the underside of most laptops put out. Quite a few of her colleagues have also purchased these after seeing hers and have had similar results. Highly recommend this one. Would definitely purchase again.
Good value for the money

I like this stand overall- it is simple, but very sturdy and a reasonable price compared to some of the $40 and $50 models. I was hesitant about the curved design making it feel flimsy, but each leg is one solid piece that runs through the length of the stand, and locks in with a big screw (the screws have a knob at one end, so no tools required). The rubber feet take some effort to rearrange, and they seem to move in defined increments.

The platform is flat and metallic, with ventilation holes in the middle. The metal itself will act as a "heat sink" of sorts, but as long as your laptop has enough airflow when sitting on a flat surface, you should be fine. If your laptop has lost it's rubber feet, you should probably get some replacements to improve airflow. Sometimes a laptop is sluggish because it is getting smothered and overheated!

One thing you should consider is that the "lip" at the front of the platform is maybe a hair over 3/4 of an inch in height. If you have the stand set at an angle, the laptop will be resting against this lip- so if your laptop has a curvy, "clamshell" design, get the ruler out and make sure that the lip at the front of your laptop isn't higher than 3/4 of an inch when sitting on a flat surface. In my case, it was the perfect height for a 15" Thinkpad.
it did seem like a well made stand

I purchased 2 of these, and both suffered from the same manufacturing defect where one leg was curved differently from the other. The difference when measure at the ends was about .5", and this made the platform lean to one side.

There are obviously a lot of positive reviews, and I did not see any others who reported the same issue, so take that as you will. I will say that were it not for the problem, it did seem like a well made stand. The legs fit snugly, so there wouldn't be any movement there, but it would also be difficult to disassemble if needed.

I ended up getting the VIVO STAND-V001N (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00M0W4RSC/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) which has nearly the same design. The one difference is that the legs attach differently - they would be easier to remove, but the knobs that screw them on would project down some, which could interfere with placing something below the stand (depending on what that was). The VIVO also came with contact info for the company, which if the Allsop had, I may have been able to resolve my issue by getting a replacement leg.

Very handy and sturdy. I'm going to enjoy the having my laptop safely tucked into this stand when not in use and simply reaching over to flip it open when I need it. The height works well for my purposes, but productivity is not my intention-just leisure time dabbling. Although, I'm finding this very comfortable and enjoyable. Despite that my office table is a bit high, I think I could be productive at least for a time if I needed to be like for a class or if I had to bring some work home. I'm excited about using this product.

Get this-I ordered the product after 9pm and it was at my door by the time I got home. It must have come directly from the local Amazon plant-Wow! So there is some very minor assembly required which equates to sliding the legs into the encased rails on the back side of the table top. The design is very simple and well thought out. There is a spring loaded button on each leg that slides into a hole in the rail. When you get it together it "seems" a tad wobbly at first, but you'll notice that's only because the hole in the rail allows enough room for quick easy attachment/de-tatchment functionality. The flat rubber levelers slide to and fro to allow the adjustment in pitch. There's a nice lip on the front of the platform that keeps your device from sliding off.

I really love it-I may end up getting sucked back into the wide, wide world of the web again-Oh No! Lol!
