Higher waisted than their pics would indicate.

Overall, these are very good shorts. I am 5'1 and 135lbs, the Large fits me well (was a tiny bit big, but shrunk in the wash). I got the black and they are 95% cotton, 5% spandex. They feel VERY soft and cottony.
I really like the fabric, pockets and flattering look on my legs.
I dislike that the model in the picture makes it look like these are low to medium rise waist, but they actually come fully up to my belly button (and the waistline is slightly narrower than the rest, indicating that this is the intended fit). I dislike high waisted things, but luckily this is still pretty comfortable and stretchy enough that I could wear it on my hips (it just wouldn't look as flattering).

I have tried many, many medium to long shorts to wear around the house. Several where almost as comfortable as these but where not machine washable or machine dry able. Too much special handling and even then they ripped easily. These are very pricey. I wish Danskin or Amazon would lower the price.

On Amazon recommendation tried a L then XL because they were too snug, pockets flared, showed panty line, etc. Though I am not shaped like the model I wanted them to hang more like on the model in pic so sized up to 1X. No panty lines, pockets still flared and I like a slightly slimmer fit in leg. The material is good and I really like the waistband and drawstring configuration. Just not right for me.
